Question about PC Laptops

Wireless Problems! I have a Balance A535 laptop, and I had a wireless card put into it about a year ago. I was able to use the internet up until yesterday evening. It says that a Network Cable is Unplugged... I've gone into the control panel and tried to set up a new connection, and its just not working. I also went to the Wireless LAN Settings in the control panel, and it says it is "Unable to connect to the Wireless NetCard. Is it inserted?" ... Could the wireless card just die on me? There are two other computers running off the same internet in the house, and we've never had a problem before. One of them is hooked directly to the modem, and one uses the Wireless Router... Please Help!! Oh and I'm using Windows XP

The computer looks for the cable because wireless is not working.

If wireless card is usb try removing laptop battery, unplugging power adapter and wifi cards, connect in five minutes and see if it works

If it still does not work, reinstall wireless card drivers.
If you have a disk reinstall them from disk.
If you lost the disk download drivers from the Internet, post model on fixya to get the link.

If the wireless card does not work after reinstalling drivers then it is probably faulty.

Note: if you use laptop internal wireless, usually you need to activate a switch to get it working.

I bought this DELL D600 about 3 years ago for my fiancee, now my wife of 1 year, and have had a lot of problems with it

it is HIGHLY doubtful that your internet speed is faster than 54Mbps, and would be little difference in performance.....

Especially given that most webmasters throttle their websites to around 3Mbps. If the website your're trying to load is only sending it @ 3Mbps, then both cards should load it similarly.

Your difference is FAR more likely in the DRIVER(s) being used, (or attempted, but not properly removed.)

How do I get my Balance Laptop model A535 to be wireless?

There are three possible ways. 1. If the notebook has an available miniPCI socket in a compartment on the bottom of the PC, a wireless card can be installed there. However, the antenna wires are nearly impossible to connect. I would pick one of the following: 2. Get a wireless PC Card for notebooks, or 3. Get a USB wireless device (works on notebooks and desktops. This option is easiest, and usually cheapest. Follow the instructions that come with it, and you're all set. I use a USB wireless device when I work on PCs, to get out to the Internet and download drivers and such.

I am a technician assisting in the repair of an A535 notebook, can't seem to get the wireles network card to work, can you assist?

Is it a built in card in a mini PCI slot? .... I had one die not long ago ... didnt show any problems in device manager ... the status light was on ..... it just didnt work.

Replacement with a new card was the only option.

Errors

uninstall the drivers for the wireless card then run windows live update the wireless card should be found and the drivers should d-load and then install themselves if that doesn't work try resetting your router or modem for the internet... sometimes certain computers in a house will receive a signal, and you might get the signal as well but the computers are messing around with the wireless... this happens more with belkin routers just restart the router and just run that one computer on the wireless network and it should start working. then you can allow all the other computers back onto the network

Internet problem

It could be several problems:
1. Your wireless router misconfiguration.
2. Your wireless router is bad
3. Your wireless card misconfiguration on your laptop
4. Your wireless card is bad.

If you never had problems with your wireless connection before and you haven't change configuration on your router or your laptop. I have seen and repaired this problem by replaceing wireless router.

Good luck!!!
