We've just received a gift of a Samsung 32" plano tv, second hand but looks great. We have set it up but in two diagonal corners the screen is green and a bit purple, can anyone help.
The chances of a damaged yolk is slim but possible. It sounds more like you've set up a new set of speakers either side of the set. Or maybe you have a VCR, CVD or setop box sitting on top of the set.
Electro magnetic fields can cause plenty of funny color problems with CRT tubes so try to kepp unshielded speakers at least 2 feet away from a TV and any other electrical appliance at least a foot.
By the way I had a TV which exhibited a beautiful color problem, it took a while but we tracked it down to the housewife turning her vacuum cleaner off right next to the TV to change power sockets and then switching the vacuum cleaner back on. Right next to a floor standing 26" TV. Her husband bought her a long extension cord :-)

- Sorry I missed the "Just arrived bit" Don't worry, just by moving a TV over a distance can cause colour problems. The last thing a newly installed TV should have is a good degauss. If you're patient simply switching the set on over a period of a few days should fix your problem. All Color TVs have an automatic degauss coil built in and on switch on it's activated, it should remove the tints. If it doesn't then it's back to the speakers etc Above.
pravin indicated that his solution for 27CX22B 27" TV Problem is valid for all Standard Televisions
I am in agreement with the second solution. TVs, when moved from one location to another have a tendency to show color patches in the corners. A few days of usage, and the auto degaussing circuits will clear the problem. Also make sure that there are no Magnet Sources nearby (Un sheilded Speakers, some Power supply of amplifiers, A 2-in-1 music system, your kids walky-talky toy, etc.)
your gonna need to degauss the tube with a small coil of wire. Maybe a repair shop will let you borrow or rent a degaussing coil. or try to unplug the set over night and try pluging back in in the n am and see if it took any amount of discolorazion away. if it didnt it could be the deflection yolk sahifted on the neck of the crt or the shadow mask inside the tube is damaged.. Good Luck
Hello, i have also came across with the same problem. To solve this problem you have to purchase some small magnetic chips ( used over the back of the picture tube, if you notice the picture tube carefully, you will see some black magnetic chips pasted on the picture tube, which are used to control the color of the pic. tube) which are easily available in the market. Bring that magnetic chips and move over the back of the picture tube and where you see the color pacth gone just paste it there with tape. Do it on both the sides and the color pacth will be gone. For this you have to keep the tv on. Please be carefull while doing this, if you are not expert do not try to open the TV

Tv will be on then all of a sudden it shuts off and makes a clicking noise. Sometimes you can power it back on (most of times not), but when you can power it on, it will shut off real soon again and will not come back on. Sometimes I just unplug it for all day or several days and then try to turn it on again and it does work, sometimes for 4 or 5 days then all of a sudden again it will shut down. someone told me that it could be the flyback. and what about the horrizontal output transitor??? what do you think? or know? Any help will be greatly appreciated. the tv is fairly new (2003) trouble started 2006 . Tv is very very very heavy to be doing much moving around.. thank you so much
