What size wire and how does it hook to thr unit rpkb-036jaz

Look at rating plate on side of unit for Volts, Amps, Watts.
Volts x amps = watts.
If unit is 240Volts, then you need double-pole 240Volt breaker
If unit is 8500 watts at max power, then 8500 watts divided by 240Volts = 35 amps.

What size breaker for 35 amps?
When electricians figure load rating for breakers, they use the 80% rule.
40 amp breaker x 80% = 32 amp safe maximum load for 40 amp breaker. Use 8 gauge wire with 40 amp breaker.
50 amp breaker x 80% = 40 amp safe maximum for 50 amp breaker. I use 6 gauge wire with 50 amp breaker.
60 amp breaker x 80% = 48 amp safe maximum for 60 amp breaker. Again, use 6 gauge wire with 60 amp breaker.

How to connect wires to unit.
First of all, all outdoor HVAC units require power cut off located next to unit.
This lets the mechanic, or service tech turn power off to work on unit, even if the mechanic does not have access to main breaker box.

Next, open unit to see where wires connect.
If unit has wires, then connect both hot wires from 240 breaker to the wires inside unit. Connect bare ground wire to green ground screw.
If unit has terminals. The terminals will be labeled L1 L2. Connect each hot wire from 240Volt breaker to either one of the screw terminals. Then bare ground goes to green ground screw.

Copy following links for basic illustrations connecting wires to terminals, and to breakers, and selecting wire size.

I have a raka-037jaz air cond. I was wondering what size is this unit? And if my breaker keeps tripping for the outside condenser does that mean my compressor is workIng too hard and needs to be replaced?...

Hello You have a 3 ton unit with a 10 SEER rating.this unit should NEVER be on a 50 amp breaker. The breaker size is on the model plate/sticker....any way the compressor is shot and it is time to find a new 3 ton condensing unit.espescially if it is TRIPPING a 50 amp.Good luck

What size breaker does the sm-11 require 2-30amp or 2-60 amp?

You will need the 2-60A breakers. 11kw is 11,000 watts. Watts = voltage X Current (amperes) If we take this formula and change it around to calculate amperes it is like this. Amperes = watts / volts amperes = 11000 watts / 240 volts This is 45.8 amperes or let us say 46 amperes. The closest breaker that you have would be a 50 amp breaker 2 pole of course . 2 - 50. If you cannot get a 2 - 50 then a 2-60 is fine. I would run with a #6 copper wire, I would check with local code to verify the wire size in your area. Make sure that the unit is grounded as well. Minimum of a #10 wire, I would also check local codes as well. Enjoy the steam!

40 amp gfi on hot tub keeps tripping.I have a 50 amp.can I use?

Your hot tub needs GFI protection because it is electrical, and people sit inside water that could be exposed to electric current.
You have a fault to ground that needs to be fixed.

Size 8 wire for 50Amp breaker.
Size 6 if tub is 50-100' feet away

Why is my 50 amp GFIC breaker tripping out? I have just installed a new hot tube.I had one there before(smaller 40 amp) so there was already #8 wire there. The new hot tub requires a 50 amp. #6 wire. I just...

There might be a few things here:

1) Big problem >> the #8 wire is a fire hazard connected to a 50Amp breaker

#8 is a 40 amp breaker
#6 is a 55 amp breaker
We put #6 on a 60 amp breaker
Are you saying you hooked the #8 wire to the new 50 amp breaker, and the hot tub called for #6 wire?

Upsize your wire and breaker to meet code
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Wire-size-amp-rating.pdf

2) After putting the correct wire and breaker, you can still have a short in the circuit somewhere
We used to set equipment out in the field in early morning >> the grass was wet >> our equipment was fine, but the tiniest short would cause the GFCI to trip

I don't know where the problem is without a thorough checkout of every possible grounded surface. You need a good multi-meter

3) You better get an electrician over there to have a look before the place burns down or somebody wakes up dead in the hot water.

If I sound a bit scary here, it's because something doesn't sound right with your installation.

What size breaker does the 11kw hayward comfort zone electric spa heater require?

It does make a difference as to input voltage. But usually at 11KW this would be a 220V unit and require a 50 amp breaker. 11,000W divided by 220VAC = 50 amps. 230 or 240V input the same 50 A breaker.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Breaker sizw

In most cases look on the model number tag, the one with the serial number on it and in most cases it will tell you what amperage breaker you should run it off of. It could be a 30 amp 40 amp or 50 amp 220 breaker.

What size breaker do i use?

at 10kw, that should be about 34130 btu's. With 240 volts, you should be using approximately 41-42 amps. Check the manufacturers name plate for breaker sizing. probably a 45-50 amp double pole breaker will work, also check with a licensed electrician to make sure that the wire is sized correctly for that unit. Hope this helps.
