Re: ZANUSSI 695 Integrated Dishwasher
The detergent cup can become clogged with old dried detergent that prevents it from opening at time. Sometimes just cleaning the cup takes care of the problem.
The detergent cup opened by a bi-metal switch or a wax motor located inside your dishwasher door(behind the detergent cup).
If cup's cleaning will not solve the problem, you should replace the bi-metal switch or the wax motor (depend which of them is used in your machine).
Another option is just to place the detergent tablet on washer's bottom before starting its cycle.
Good luck !

There is a solenoid in the detergent dispenser that opens at the appropriate time to let the door open and drop detergent. The solenoid might be faulty if the door spring appears alright. One option is to stop using the powder detergent and switch to tablets. One tablet like Finish diamond in the cutlery basket does wonders.
Not sure if you can buy the dispenser to replace.
Check the way you're loading your dishwasher. Sometimes large plates or baking pans can block the door of the dispenser. The latch unlocks but because the door is blocked, the detergent can't get out. Once you open the main door, the dispenser door pops open and looks as if it has been in the fully opened position when it was actually held in place by that large utensil!Cutting boards are major blockers as well. I hope this helps. If it does, please come back to fixya and rate my answer!
sometimes the dispenser doors are not designed for tablets, and they don't let enough water in to dissolve them....next time you wash; put the tablet in one of the silverware compartments....should do the trick. and leave the dispenser door for liquid detergents only.
if this is helpful please click the correct button. thanks
It actually sounds like maybe the packet is getting partially melted to the inside. Have you tried washing with no heat at all? Or maybe change brands on detergent packets. The main thing is your door is actually opening all the way, if so, then the only other thing I could see being wrong is the tablets. Hope this helps.
Quickest way to ruin a good dishwasher is to use tablets. They have times when they don't brake down in the water like they were designed. Chance are that you used the tablets with the thin film package, this thin film gets caught in the pump and shut down water circulation. Have a qualified tech pull motor assembly apart for you and clean.
on the front load machines there is a large rubber door boot which gets built up with soap scum. always leave the door open a little bit when the wash day is done. there is a product available called "Afresh". it comes in a pkg with 3 tablets. if the odor is strong follow the directions and use all three tablets. then for maintenance use one tablet a month in an empty machine. what also helps is to make sure you do at least one hot water only wash per month, this helps to disolve all the soap that gets built up in the dispenser tubes and drain hoses etc. hope this helps.
I believe that the instructions for using these 3-in-1 tablets is to place it in the open dish detergent cup, rather than in the closable compartment, since the tablet needs to get doused by a lot of water in oder to fully dissolve and be effective in getting the dishes clean.
Since the tablets are designed to dissolve more slowly, they are able to be used for the entire range of washing cycles. If it's a constant problem and you don's have an open detergent cup below or next to your closed detergent dispenser, just toss it into the bottom of the dishwasher instead.
The reason that the tablet isn't getting dissolved fully is because the door is preventing the tablet from dropping all the way out and the door is shielding the tablet from quite a bit of water spray.
Another option is to take a look at your owners manual for the dishwasher and see if they recommend these all-in-one tablets versus regular powered detergent and liquid rinse aid.
The newer Whirlpool dishwashers have little slots in the top of the soap dispenser to allow water to seep in during the first water fill. This design allows the tablet to begin to dissolve during the first fill then be usefull when the soap door opens. In your case, I would check to see if the soap dish is opening at all. Perhaps one of the racks are not allowing clearance or the soap door itself is sticking closed.
Let the dishwasher fill, drain, and then fill again. Open the door of the dishwasher and see if the soap door is still closed and if so, there is your problem. Also, at this time, check the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F for the soap to be effective.
Most dishwashers work best when the food is rinsed off the dishes before they are put in the dishwasher. Also, run the hot water into the sink until it is hot and then turn on the dishwasher. good luck.
