i have a whirlpool washing machine which has a horrible high pitched squeak upon spinning, however it only happens when it is in mid level spin not fast spin or slow spin! the motor and belt are both fine, please help!!!!

Same Problem

-   Mine is a new Frigidaire, squeaks like crazy. Still under warranty so I called the man. He came out and said it was because the machine was sitting on hardwood flooring. yeah right! I need a second opinion now. What a hassel.

-   I get a loud whining noise in the spin cycle. Not sure if it's in the initial only or if it starts after the water is drained out of it. When I noticed it, the water was gone. I filled it back up put it on the spin cycle again and once the water drained, the noise came back. It does not make that noise except in the spin cycle. Think this could be a dry belt or pulley also?-   melcanon

I fixed my issue. Mine was a very small finish nail that had been sucked into the water pump. When I took the pump off the motor, the nail fell out. I made sure the pump was still turning ok and not damaged, then reassembled it all and it's worked fine...and quite...ever since. Mel

It sound like an unbalanced load of clothes issue. Stop the machine, redistribute the clothes and re-start the machine.
Good luck !

It could be just a dry belt and pulley.

You could use the old squeeking car fan belt trick and rub soap on the belt. The noise is gone in a flash. You can even buy sticks of anti squeek from automobile outlets.

Hi, I wanted to comment on this because I have the Majestic MJ9200 Washing machine front load for the RV. I am having the exact same problem and I cannot use my machine at this time. This is NOT an unbalanced load problem. An unbalanced load will cause a loud banging noise because the drum is off balance. There is something wrong inside your machine. Mine never had this problem before either and an unbalanced load does not cause this horrible screech while on the spin cycle. My machine like yours made the noise only on certain spin speeds, high 1500 rpm spin the first time and when I adjusted the spin cycle just to see what happened it stopped making that horrible noise. I washed another load and it began that same screetch while spinning and it was then in all RPM ratios available on my model.

My husband took the top off the machine and could not see anything evident but when looking into the front of the machine we could tell that is seems the interior drum is much looser in the washing machine than in the dryer. There are two drums on the front load. A larger outer drum and a smaller inner drum. The inner drum is what is looser in our machine and the noise is a very loud screetch while spinning the water out of the clothes.

Is your machine under any kind of warranty? Mine is not and I am waiting to get it fixed.

Good luck on getting yours fixed and perhaps we can both help each other out on this one although we have different brands of machines...

- Hi again, the manufacturer of my Majestic machine thinks the bearing has gone in the drum and that is where the screetch comes from. We will be putting in new parts and I will let you know if this fixes our problems.

- Update on our problem. We installed a new bearing in our machine and the screetch is completely gone. How has yours come along on fixing it???

I had this problem with my machine three or four years ago. I sprayed the belt with WD 40. It stopped the squeak and the machine has worked fine, except it has begun squeaking again, so I will spray it again.
