Olympus Zuiko 35mm macro digital slr lens seems to be stuck in extended postion

I was using my macro lens. All of a sudden it didn't focus. I swapped out the battery and it still didn't focus. I noticed that the lens is extended and I don't know how to un-extend it. Seems to be stuck. I'm using an Olympus E-500 camera and don't know all the ins and outs of it; so maybe I accidentally set something I didn't mean to. Anyway, it seems to be stuck and I don't know what to do about it. The camera functions correctly with a different lens. Can someone help?

Hi again...a couple more comments: the lens is not quite a year old and hasn't been heavily used, dropped or abused. It's mostly been in the house, on a tripod, doing eBay photos - and not even a lot of those until recently.

My husband thinks the motor is frozen and I can't tell whether or not a piece is missing from the front of the lens. I never really paid attention to what the front of the lens looked like when not extended. I'm inserting a couple of images in hopes that this helps anyone who can assist with my problem. Thanks!

Thank you so much for any assistance you can give me. I purchased the lens from B&H Photo and will be calling them tomorrow as well.

SOURCE: Zuiko 70-300mm lens focusing problem

Haha!!
Maybe its something you're not doing, LOL.
Look on the side of the lens. Most of the 70-300 macros have a slide switch. My Tamron, for instance, needs to be zoomed out to 300, then slide the switch to Macro and its ok. Look for the slide switch. You might also notice lines of a different color to denote Macro.
Some days it too tough to be smarter than the lens,
LOL.

SOURCE: Is the focus type sigma

The "MF" in "Sigma MF 500mm f/7.2 APO" designates the lens as manual focus.

Vivitar 35-200 macro FD mount lens for Canon doesn't extend to telephoto. It seems to be stuck at 35mm. Any tips? Disassemble, special buttons, tricks?

Did you try putting the camera and lens in Manual Mode and focusing by hand? On Many cameras there is a tiny switch on the lens that limits your focus ability to either FULL or LIMIT.

My pl1 camera has blurred pictures but when lens taken out, its ok.

Are you using an auto-focus m4/3 lens? I have about 20 lenses for this camera and only 1 of them is an auto-focus m4/3 lens. I have an adapter so I can use my 4/3 lenses on it in auto-focus mode along with other various mounts (including cctv) that do not support auto-focus. So if you are using a non-auto-focus lens, you will need to manually focus the pictures.
If you are certain it is an auto-focus lens, are you sure you have it set to auto-focus?
What settings do you have your camera set to (aperature mostly is what I'd like to know)? Try adjusting your aperature to be small (to increase your DOF).
Also what lens are you using and what is your focal distance? It could be your lens has a larger or shallower focal distance than what you are trying to achieve (like a macro lens doesn't work that great for landscape photography or a telephoto lens doesn't work great for macro photography).
Last thought: is your lens or sensor dirty? A dirty lens can cause focusing issues if it is REALLY dirty and a dirty sensor can too (sensor is a bigger pain to clean. I strongly recommend taking it to the pros as they scratch really easily). Dirty lenses can be cleaned with a blower and a lint free cloth and rubbing alcohol if those 2 things don't clear it out.

The 510 seems to have trouble auto-focusing in low light. Manual focus works if there is enough light for your eyes.

Can this lens fit an olympus C 5060 ?

No, it will not. The C-5060 does not use interchangable lenses. I cannot tell from the picture that you have attached what cameras this will fit. It it was, in fact made by Olympus, it would appear to belong to their line of 35mm film cameras.

You don't say whether ou've tried using the reset button, which unlocks the mirror after lock up. As you look at the camera face on (shutter top left, rewind arm top right) then its about at 5pm on the lens mount. Whilst pressing that down, rotate the manual speeds band (found on the lens mount on the body) round to B, which should unlock the mirror.
If it does, it should work normally with new batteries in.
