Frost build up on the ice bin

Frost is on the front of the ice bin & in the door shoot so the door dispenser doesn't work. I'm not sure if this is the correct model but it has the water, crushed & cubed ice buttons with the light button below. I have cleaned it out any # of times but it continues. Can you help please?

The ice door is not closing or not sealing .. maybe a broken spring or lever...you will need to replace that broken part..

Hi,

Check the dispenser door itself, is it closing? If not find out why? If a part needs to be replace than warranty will cover it, if the door is obstructed with ice they could charge you. I wouldn't but warranty does cover anything but part replacement item anymore. Customer instructs are not covered. Is all the doors closing completely and sealing? Now is the frost just frost or clear ice? Frost means warm air mixed with cold air, so ice means water froze. There is a difference between the two. Ice dispenser freezes up and will not dispense ice. It freezes so that I cannot remove the bin.

Your door on the dispenser is not closing and sealing. Probably have corroded linkage and solenoid and/or curled door seal that is alowing cold air to escape from the freezer which causes frost to build up inside the ice shoot.

FROST BUILD UP ON ICE STORAGE BIN AND INSIDE OF

Most times this is caused by the dispenser door not shutting all the way. This causes moist air to be drawn in through the opening and the moisture will freeze in that area and also cause the dispenser door to have even more problems closing. Check the door and get me your model number so I can list the parts that are most likely causing this, Thanks Sea Breeze

Frost inside the ice dispenser chute and the ice cube dispenser seems "stuck" on crush mode instead of dispensing full cubes.

The stuck on crush mode , is caused by ice frosted in front of the ice bin , blocking the ice bin flap from opening , when calling for cube ice . Removing the ice bin and cleaning or defrosting completely , will solve this problem , AFTER , resolving the frost in shoot problem .
Remove the top freezer door hinge cover , and disconnect the plug there . This removes any power , going to the door . If no plug there , remove the bottom kick plate , by removing the screw on each side in the front , and disconnect the receptical from the wires comming from the bottom of the freezer door .
Remove the dispensor control board , by prying , or pulling , from the bottom of the board . Disconnect the 3 plugs to the board . You should now see the white dispensor cover , being held on by 4 screws . Remove these screws , and slide the cover out .
In the top right , inside the dispensor area , you will see a solenoid with a plunger , with the door flap arc , inserted into the plunger . Usually rust inhibits the movement of the plunger , keeping the door flap from closing completely .
Remove the 3 screws holding the plunger and solenoid ( part number WR62X10055 ) and replace . Cleaning will not help , due to rust will return .

Frost builds up in dispenser area .hard to open because of frost buildup.

The ice dispensor flap is not closing completely , causing the frost in the inside shoot and on the bottom of the dispensor . Sometimes caused by a broken ice guide ( clear piece attached to the arm that activates the dispensor on the door ) it hits against the flap , not letting it close . Model number would have helped more .

Frost buildup on area where ice comes out of the ice bin with frost also on the inside of door chute

The flap door where ice is dispensed is warped letting warm air into the freezer causing the frost build up. You must replace the flapper - a $5 - $7 part but not too difficult to replace. I find the flapper last only about 2 years and frost problem reappears. Forget about a "weak heater".

Frost on icemaker door

Most likely the ice door is not closing properly.
Clean out the ice chute and look down it from the inside while you shine a flashlite up from the outside. If you see light around the door then it needs to be replaced or something is wrong with the mechanism.
Post back and let me know what you find.
