Try the following:

1. If you want WPA2 encryption on your router, (which also have higher security and compatibility issues with wireless cards), you could try WPA2-TKIP (which is standard encryption and made compatible for all wireless cards) or WPA2-AES (for specific wireless cards that are unable to connect to TKIP encryption)

2. If Step 1 won't work, try to lower your security encryption to WPA-PSK (either TKIP or AES) and try again. If this works, your IPAD2's wireless card doesn't support WPA2 encryption yet.

If all of the above fails, I do not recommend WEP since it's easily cracked (for advanced users) but you could try it as a last resort.

Good luck.

I tried to set up my iPad2 to connect to my Linksys Wireless-N Broadband Router (Model No. WRT160N) using the password that I set 3 years ago. I couldn't get it work after trying the password with upper...

Make sure you have set up the security on the router to match the type that can be handled by the ipad.

If you are using WPA2 AES encryption for example, you may want to verify that the ipad2 can connect to it. This could be the case with any type of encryption. If you are using WEP make sure you are choosing the correct bit level (64 bit vs. 128 bit etc)

I would recommend trying WPA TKIP encryption, it is pretty secure and usually pretty universally accepted.

Using a Linksys WRT160N how do I connect two different devices with different security settings? One using WEP and the other using WPA2?

You can't connect two different devices on WEP and WPA2. It's one or the other. I suggest using WPA2 because it is uncrackable thus far. WEP can be cracked in under a minute.

How do I secure my network

etting up wireless security is the easiest way to prevent other people from using your wireless internet connection. Your Linksys router supports three (3) of the most commonly-used wireless security types WEP, WPA and WPA2.

This article will explain the difference between WEP, WPA, WPA2 and how to set up each of them.

Hello, I have a Linksys Router model No. WRT 160N and have problems with the wireless signal. Doesn't appear the wireless symbol ON and I have connected already the modem cable. The modem is OK cuz I can...

* NOTE: If you tried to set-up the WRT-160N Router previously, but failed, with the Router ON, press the "Reset" button on the back panel and hold it down for 10 seconds, then release. This will reset the Router to factory settings and erase all previous data.
Then do this
1. Hook up the Linksys WRT-160N Router to the modem(cable, DSL or satelitte)
2. Hook up the Linksys WRT-160N Router to your computer via a LAN cable with the LAN cable in Port #1 on the Linksys WRT-160N Router.
3. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your web browser.
4. Log-on to the Linksys WRT-160N Router with these log-on credentials:
Username: linksys (lower-case)
Password: admin (lower-case)
5. Click on the "Clone PC MAC Address" tab.
6. Click the "Clone PC MAC Address" button.
7. Click "Save", click "Continue".
8. Click the "Wireless Security" tab.
9. Choose "WPA2 Personal - TKIP/AES" for encrypted security.
10. Enter encryption password (passphrase).
11. Click "Save", click "Continue".
12. Exit the web browser.
13. Disconnect the LAN cable from the computer and Port #1 on the Linksys WRT-160N Router.

My linksys router will now allow my Ipad to connect. The ipad does connect to other routers execept mine

usually with the IPAD. You need to put the correct settings into the wireless connection settings.
You wll need your SSID (the name your router shows up as when you search for wireless connections)
Your security type ( WEP or WPA/WPA2)
your wifi password.
I have connected many IPADS, as long as you have the correct details it should work
Are you setting the correct security type?

I bought Linksys El000 How do I connect to X Box?

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router. You will needthe name of your wireless network ( SSID) and the wireless network key or passphrase.
You are using E1000 router. This is new series of routers from Linksys.
If you are using the security type WPA/WPA2 mixed then use only the WPA personal and TKIP.
now go to X-box and try to connect to the wireless.

Will not allow me to connect using an ipod touch.

My IPaq wireless has an icon that lets me log into other networks by just selecting them and putting in the password or no password if it's an open network.

I Googled the Ipod touch instructions and found a MAC blogger with the specific instructions here http://mac.blorge.com/2008/07/14/wi-fi-setup-how-do-i-access-the-internet-with-my-ipod-touch/

If you can't login because you don't see the router, try logging into the router from a computer connected to it and make sure the wireless is turned on and broadcasting an SSID. If you have a WEP password set, you will be able to read it under the Wireless Basic Wireless Settings tab. If you need specific help with the WRT, you may visit the Linksys site. Here's a link to connecting your wireless device to a Linksys product http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=20947

or, here's a manual where you can start at page 13 http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/userguide/WRT160N_V10_UG_A-WEB,0.pdf

My wrt160n can not connect to my wii, already do disable firewall, switch to channel 11, manual input ip & dns, still nothing

Try turing your security setting in your Router to a lower setting. I had the same issue, and i changed mine from WPA2 to WPA-Personal and it now works.
Hope this helps you too.
