Question about HP PSC 950 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printing Gibberish Hi. When printing the only detail to be printed is lines of complete gibberish ie. script like wingdings or something. I have reloaded the printer driver from the CD and also one downloaded from the net to no avail. Commections and cables all seem to be fine. Printer is about 5 years old but has been absolutely fantastic until now. Is this terminal? Grateful for any info to help resolve as I've got lots of assessments stacking up to print! Thank you very much indeed.

Re: Printing Gibberish

I presume you have some sort of Win OS, if if you don't the First thing is to go to Start, select printers, select the printer in question, rt click on your printer, select properties, you will see "print test page", click see what the result is. If it won't print or is garbage, your driver is moast likely corrupt. Uninstall the drivers, (if it is USB connected - unplug the USB connection) for your printer. Shut-down your PC. Restart then Re-install the most current version of your printer driver that you can download. That should fix it. HTH.BOL.

How to stop printing

While your question is not quite clear, I will provide a couple of suggestions. Usually when you press the cancel button, it pauses the printer and then you must use the arrow keys to select cancel job and then press the checkmark. Also check any computers to make sure that they do not have a job in their print queue. If the printer does not send back a job complete command, sometimes the computer will keep resending the job. Failing all else, restart your computer and your printer. Are the pages that are printing gibberish or is it the correct print job? If gibberish, you might have a corrupted print driver or the file you are printing might be corrupted.

Printing gibberish

Printing gibberish, or as I refer to them as 'lucky charms' is indicative of a corrupted driver. I would reload the driver or see if HP has an updated driver set for this model.

Prints a single line of gibberish on 1 page before printing the document, then eventually spits out a blank page. Running on vista, using vista driver. Dell 1720dn printer on Vista Business SP2

Gibberish? What you are seeing may be printer control codes and data.

Is there any way you can scan the page into an e-mail and then send it to me at, please.

I'd like to see your printout.

Printer keeps printing one line gibberish and then scrolls on

1) click the printer icon in the tasktray to open the printer tasks and delete any active print jobs, and wait for the task to be deleted.

2) power off the printer and power it back on that should clear it.

3) you may need to power it on and off more than once.

Printing gibberish then feeding several lines, printing gibberish

If text did not line up as planned, your TOF ( top of forms adjustment ) isn't correct. Just correct it using the button on the panel. If after printing 1 page or so and then it begins to go out of place, most probably you hv set the page lenght incorrectly. To correct, enter the MENU on the panel and set the correct page length.
Lastly if printing garbage, most probably you have selected the wrong emulation on the MENU. Correct by entering MENU mode ( press ' SHIFT+MENU ' button together ) and select the correct emulation.

Hope this helps.

Printing gibberish

gibberish printing is normally a sign of outdated print drivers. Try going to HP's support site and download the latest PCL driver.

Printer is printing gibberish

HP  for some reason has been having this problem for a long time. keep deleting the jobs, it may take awhile ( up to 5 min)
but it will go away.
I work a lot with HP's, so I've seen it a few times.
