I was told by my current internet provider that I need to re-configure my modem which is a speedstrem 4100. I was told the only way to do that is to speak with the manufacturer directly. So what number do I need to call or can you help me with this problem?

You need to set it up according to your Internet Service Provider's settings. The Default Gateway for the modem is "192.168.0.1" type it on the internet explorer's address bar and you will be able to access it. Now, contact your internet service provider to assist you with the configuration of the modem. It needs your Username and Password, which were both provided by your provider.
I hope it helped you. Rate for this information will greatly be appreciated. Thank you!
Siemens Speedstream 4100 is just a modem, if you want to connect to the internet wireless you will need to set up your speedstream modem with a wireless router.
It can work with almost all the wireless routers available in the market, but I would recommend a Linksys wireless router.
What IP address you use to setup your system the standard one that I use on the browser is 192.168.1.1 or 100. Try it and see if that will take you to it remember to keep your unit on.(did you try to connected via usb tell you do your update?) if not try to downloads another driver try this link and let me know.I will be working with you to conclusions of this issue. Please see that grant me your approvals by rating my service and I hope that I can serve you again the future.
You have to reset the modem by holding the reset key from the back side for 5 seconds, and re-configure it by going to 192.168.254.254 and re-configure it from Quick-Start by following all the instruction given by your Wireless Provider, or configure your own in case you are NOT using it for InterNet access
if you brought the wireless new from a vendor. you don't need to configure it. unless you want to.
but if you brought a used one (in you case). you have to configure it. You need to get inside (software wise) of the modem. to do that you need login name and password to start with. if you don't have it, please call or e-mail the guy you brought the modem from.
then you have to configure the security for the wireless, unless you want everyone under sun to access your modem via wireless.
search on the web, you should come away with a user manual for the unit.
I have just set up 4200 with dsl - you may find that you need to reset modem before you can configure. I was told that you need either a grey or yellow cable from your laptop to the modem. I use 10.0.0.138 to access modem. The 4200 I have was from a bigpond a/c - originally configured accordingly. Regards, Richard

*** If it asks for modem access code anywhere, you can find the code underneath the modem. please type it ***
