the exact same problem plain and simple

  • btlsfn Apr 20, 2008

I have the same problem. For example, today I was watching the baseball game. I couldn't even read the score because it goes off the top of the screen. It cuts the picture off the sides and the bottom too. If any one has a solution, I would be so happy.

Sorry to burst the other techs Bubble but APEX does support there sets as well as there customers . I guess the other tech may be well quilifiyed, but NOt authorized by Apex. Apex is just like most other companys. They won't give much support to unauthorized companys, BUT they are great with the consumer. your problem is a vert IC goes bad in these sets a lot as the capacitor off the B+ feed off the HI voltage transformer becomes leaky. A good local shop should be able to fix it NO problem for less the 175 bucks Good Luck. Any problems finding a service agaent call 866-427-3946

It is not clear what you mean by "the picture does not fit the screen". Usually the picture size is determined by the TV microprocessor based on information which it receives. If it is not displaying the picture properly this circuit is probably bad. The bad news is Apex does not support their products and it will probably be tough or impossible to fix this.

How do you adjust the aspect ratio or size of picture to fit screen? There is no aspect ratio setting that I can find in my menu options

In the newer TVs the aspect ratio is a separate setting 480 ,730 etc. Others you just go to settings, menu, picture, and select viewing preference. It can also depend on the source. some streaming devices, dvd, etc have aspect settings of their own.. check both.

50 INCHAdjust picture size to fit screen

Picture size depends on how the program is broadcast to the TV. You can use shrink, letterbox on some tv's to expand a picture but the aspect ratio will be wrong. There is no adjustments if a program is broadcast in standard definition and viewed on a HI definition TV.

CHANGING THE SCREEN ASPECT RATIO: ( From Manual )
The TV can display images in four different modes: Wide, Zoom, Panoramic, and Normal. Each mode displays the picture differently. To change the screen aspect ratio:
1. Press the MENU button on the remote.
2. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight the Wide icon. Press OK.
3. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight your desired screen mode and press OK:
• Normal preserves the content's original aspect ratio. Since the 4:3 aspect ratio is not large enough to fill the TV's screen, black bars are added to the left and right of the display image.
• Wide stretches a 4:3 aspect ratio picture to the edges of the screen. Since the picture is being stretched, the display image may appear distorted. If the program is already formatted for widescreen viewing (1.85:1 or 2.35:1), then black bars will appear on the top and bottom of the display image.
• Zoom expands images with black bars to fit the screen.
• Panoramic expands the display image to fill the screen.
images may appear wider than intended.
If you are watching widescreen (1.85:1 or 2.35:1) content, black bars will still appear on the top and bottom of the display image. This option is only available when the TV is displaying a 480i/480p source.

How do I set the aspect ratio on a Symphonic WF20L6

There is no aspect ratio adjustment can be seen in the user manual of your TV. Try change the aspect ratio of the picture by PC. If you are interested to get a copy of the user manual to your TV, send your email address to me, and get a copy of it by return mail.

My picture on my TV is always too big. Meaning, the picture is set to a screen bigger than it really is. It does not show part of the picture because it does not fit in the area that the screen allows. ...

athacker,
This is a result of the aspect ratio being set to the wrong setting for what video source you are watching. Go into your menu and select picture>aspect ratio>normal. Then play with the five different modes to maximize the picture for the source you are watching.

I hope I was able to help. Please rate this answer if I was able to do so.

Thanks,
-Chris
