Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

I have a Kodac V570 digital camera. For some reason the lens cover does not open when the camera is cut on. I have replaced the battery(which probably did not need replacing) I'm looking for someone who knows what would cause this and what it would cost to fix it. Thanks for any help you can offer. Fred

Hi,

The problem you're experiencing is somewhat common. The lens unit can become damaged if it's opened while in your pocket, or in a case etc. This usually happens without the user's knowledge and appears to be a mysterious development. Basically, what happens is the power button gets pressed and the lens attempts to extend, then the lens gets jammed

The problem is with the lens mechanism and you will have to get it repaired. There are few home remedies which you can try but they work sometimes not always. The cost of repair may go upto $100.
I'll give you the home remedies in few min.

1)Try compressed air.turn off the camera blow air between the lens turret
and the camera body. It should remove all dust and sand. Turn the
camera on and see if the lens extend.

2)Another method is to tap the padded USB cover part on a hard surface,
for example, a desk. It sounds so simple, but very often in works.

    3)Try
forcing the camera lens.Turn off the camera. Place it on the back with
the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and
    the lens housing.

    If
you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the
problem should be easy to fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if
the camera was dropped while the lens was extended.
Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is
the biggest. You should hear a "click" as it pops back into place. Try
    powering the camera back on.

    4)If the lens
doesn't extend at all or it extends, and then retracts again, do the
following. Turn the camera off. Take the camera in one hand and with
the other gently take one part of the lens and gently move it round in
    a circular movement.

If you still face the problem then the lens mechanism is completely jammed and you will have to get it repaired there are no more home remedies.

Why wont the lens open

hello, the lens will not open for the following reasons
1. if the battery is dead, replace or re-charge the battery or use a a/c adapter if available
2. dust in the crevices of the cover, bang the camera with your hand gently this will dislodge the dust and cover mechanism will become free, you may also tap the cover with your forefinger on lens edge, take rubber bulb blower , blow air thoroughly in the crevices of the cover
hope it helps and your camera works

Como corregir un errror E45 en una kodak V570

The bad news is that this error means the lens alignment of your camera is messed up and it will take repair service to fix it. The cost of this might be equivalent to replacing the camera.

Canon Si5 Lens Error message. Have tried suggestions on line

Welcome to FixYa.

There where wo reasons why do you receive a "lens error".

1. CF card slot cover or battery cover opened with camera on
2 . CF card slot cover or battery cover opened while camera was recording to CF card

In this case you have to ensure that CF card cover and battery cover is closed while camera is turn on.

You also need to be careful not to block the camera lens when turning on. Lens will have issues while retracting if your hands or even small thing that will block the lens to retrack while in motion of turning on.

Thank you for using FixYa.

V570 Camera makes a buzzing noise when turned on and will not operate

Your camera most likely has a lens error and the buzzing is the lens motor straining against a stuck lens, this is such a common fault that I hope you don't mind me pasting my stock generic answer below. No point in reinventing the wheel!

Stuck lenses are probably the most common reason that compact digital cameras get thrown away, but there's a fair chance of recovering use of your camera again

The fault is commonly caused by dirt or grit blocking the mechanism, or due to it having suffered a recent fall. Another common cause is that the camera was in a pocket or bag and the power button accidentally activated and tried to open the lens against resistance. The mechanism may have simply become dislodged or there may be parts which have broken.

If your camera is still under warranty and has definitely not been subject to misuse then contact the Kodak service department in your country to find out about a free repair. If the warranty has expired though a professional repair will far exceed the cost of replacing your camera. You will therefore have nothing to lose by trying to fix this yourself.

Please click here and you will be taken to an excellent article provided by the Camera Repair website. For the most part, you'll be guided on how to physically manipulate your camera to try and clear the fault. Although the article mentions Canon a few times, the advice applies equally to all cameras with lens errors and is not model-specific.

Lens cover not close, This will happens due to two reasons.
1) Either your camera battery got died or need to be recharged or replace. or 2) Your camera is malfunctioning and need service (repair).
To resolve the problem. first check battery on your camera, If battery indicator shows battery low, than you need to charge it or you need to replace your battery.

V570 Dual Lens, will not switch to ordinary lens.

Hi, My V570 works fine on widescreen lens (the default on startup) but when I zoom up to switch to the other lens it goes to a dark blank screen and will take a similarly dark blank picture. I can hear the zoom activating as I click it so I think that is ok. I opened the camera
