GGGrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! I've had 3 consoles now.!.!
First I went through an origional xbox then a crystal, both with supposed power supply problems! now my 360 has conked out.....The usual disc error/unreadable etc etc etc... then the red lights appeared a few weeks later even after fitting a game expert fan and building a wire frame on a wooden base to take the power pack off the floor and let the air get all round it better. Now it turns on ok but no sound and a blank screen!!!
Why the hell do we put up with these shoddy build machines from microsoft that have been dogged by the same problems since launch!!! We buy a computer,it stays on day and night for 5 years with no issues, we buy a Playstation it gets hammered just the same for 12 hours a sitting and still performs....etc etc etc why don't they sort the problem out once and for all and do our repairs for free with upgraded parts to the same spec????????
To tell the truth microsoft rushed so quick to beat the supposed ps3 launch date that didnt even match and left us waiting, that they overlooked so many issues due to hardware compatability and software and also most importantly build qualiy.it has been stated that microsoft dont even truely know how to repair as it could be 1 of around 1200 errors and issues that have been reported, and microsoft source most of the repairs to a german firm that do the job for them hence some people reporting 6 months waiting for return.
you can polish a turd
but you cant make it shine
hope they take the time to test properly next time and dont panic that the sony release date might be true.

I had the same issue with an origional xbox 360. I tried different cables but all the same. I jumped on youtube and found how to get into the internals and was quite easy. Then I spent ages cleaning all the dust and crud out. Then it worked well. The power box on the cord also has a fan and I also cleaned it out. Well does in australia. Not shure about overseas models. Could be worth ago
You may need to change your HD settings on the back of the console ( HD setting is actually on cord ) I had that issue when I first went online w/360 . If that does not help u know X box costumer support will repair any damaged system prob. no cost and does'nt take as long as they say.
Dependant on the age of the xbox.
Heres a couple of things to try.
1:) try a music CD.
2:) Try a laser head cleaner. ( usually the CD type ) some cleaner disks have a few small brushes on that wipe over the laser head. ** there are several causes for the 360 not reading Game-Disks**
3:) if you have the backwards compatable xex file from microsofts web-site. ( enabling you to play an official XBOX1 Or original xbox game. Try 1 of these, if the standard xbox game works, then the problem may be with the laser unit itself.
i.e standard xbox games are single layer, 360 games are dual layer. when reading a dual-layer disk the laser power output is increased, by the reader.
It's dead. Too bad. The solutions is listed here: 1. Call Xbox support and tell them that your Xbox(or Xbox 360) is broken. Free while within warranty, costs about $200+ if you are out of warranty. 2. Try the towel trick. I do not recommend this while you are in warranty. 3.Ask someone here to repair your 360. There are a good number of people here that will lend you a helping hand.
