It could be a faulty cartridge. Have you already tried inserting a different known working cartridge? If error continues to pop-up even with a different new or a known working cartridge, then it could be a hardware problem. Try to contact Lexmark technical support on the phone for additional assistance.
Turn off the printer for about 5 mins then turn it back on. Can you provide the model number of your printer as well as any error codes on the screen if you see any.
Hello thanks for using FixYa Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer. Actually the printer is not actually loading the cartridge and showing you the error 5100. To solve these follow the following steps. I hope it works
Turn off printer
Remove both the cartridges from the printer
Use a
clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the
cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches
Return the cartridges
Turn on the printer.
Error will be removed I hope this solution will helpful 4 u Please don't forget to click on Four thumbs which are given below if it is helpful THANKS & Keep Using Fixya
I would check the area that the cartridge and printer connect together (where they make the electronic communication) have a look if there is anything stopping the 2 from connecting correctly. Also, getting your hoover in there and giving it a good old clean can often solve a lot of problems too.
If the "new" cartridges were brand new HP oem cartridges, there are two things I would do. First, take out the cartridges and inspect the contact area (where the electrical in the printer meets the electrical on the cartridge) and make sure there is no dirt or ink on the contacts. Secondly, remove both of the cartridges, close the lid, and pull out the power cord while the printer is on. Wait at least 10 minutes, plug in, power up and wait until it is done making noises. Open the lid and insert the black cartridge first(important!) and then the color. If this doesn't take care of the issue, replace the printer. (If you're sure the carts were brand-new)
try going into the menu 8 clicks down onto theaf control, and make sure its on single AF ,not continuous,as if its on continuous it will keep trying to stay in focus,if this dosent solv it its probabley a faulty lens
When inserting a new cartridge, you may receive a prompt
"The installed ink cartridge differs from the original ink cartridge for the printer. Your printouts may be different from those printed using original ink cartridges. Do you want to continue using the currently installed ink cartridge?"
If you click Yes, printing will continue. If you select No, you will be prompted to change the cartridge. Manufacturer prompts may vary.
It seems the cartridge you have changed is not accepted by your printer. Make sure you have changed the same no cartridge. pull out the cartridge and and fix it again make sure after placing at will no shaking in printer.
open flap to access cartridges hold down power button untill cartridges move to centre remove and reinstall cartridges set them as new in the pop up box window and print a test page worked 4 me,i had a continuous flashing green light
