Question about Panasonic SA-XR55 Receiver

Open Question

SA-XR55 Input Selector broken

The Input Selector on my sa-xr55 is broken. It turns but the menu items do not change. I ordered a replacement part (K9AA012A0007 - Encoder). I beleive this is the problem. This is the part the Input Selector knob attaches to. Any information on accessing and replacing this part would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob Y.

May just be bad connections on the speaker relay. Flip the main board over, and check those connections. It is pretty common on these older models.

When I turn on my technics sa-gx amplifier I can't hear the sound

Have you noticed if the speakers selector switch in the front panel is set to off ? That position for the switch is only suited to listen heaphones. Good Luck.

Cassettes tapes not moving in my Panasonic RX-ED77

If you can her the motor turning, there is a good chance that the belt(s) have broken and need to be replaced. If you hear nothing, then there could be a control issue. I'm leaning toward the belts though. Figure on $5-$15 for the belts,

Technics surround sound system

Use whatever TV sound output conforms to your receiver's input. If an optical or coaxial digital sound output is available, that is the way to get 5.1 surround sound through the SA-DX1050. But you have to assign the correct input (COAX, OPT1 or OPT2) to the selector (TV, DVD, CD). See pp 12-13 of the operationg instructions for D-Input instructions. If you don't have the manual you can download it at

Amplifier displays "Speakers are overloaded" and switches off

Either the amplifier protection circuit is kicking in due to a fault, or your speaker wires are shorting. Could also be a fault in a speaker - shorted turns due to overdriving. Check amp with speaker leads disconnected, and if OK, see above.
