Try installing the latest audio driver. You can download the audio and device drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from theirdownload page. It is located on the mother board, under the keyboard.... It is the size of a quarter.... and may be soldered in on your Satellite M35x series machine.
Before going for the upgrade make sure you read the specifications as to how much size your system supports, Then take your laptop to the authorized vendor and ask them to upgrade it accordingly so that you do not have any compatibility issues later.
