The best way to get rid of a virus is not to get them in the first place by running Internet Security Software. My favorite is Kaspersky Internet Security, I've never had a virus and I go on all sorts of websites.

Since you already have a virus, here are some things that you can do to get rid of it:
First, buy a professional anti-virus software program or download a free one. My favorite free anti-virus software program is AVG Antivirus.

If you cannot install a software program because the virus is so bad, you can try an online virus scanner. My favorite is Bit Defender's online scanner. It is free to use.

There are commercial anti virus programs you can purchase and install on your computer such as McAfee and Nortons.
There are also freeware anti virus programs on the Internet that you can download, but they may not have the same level of protection as commercial anti virus programs.

You need to have a reliable anti-virus software installed and run a scan then tell the software to remove the virus. If you do not have an anti-virus program installed you can find an open source anti-virus program at www.clamwin.com. This is a very good and free anti-virus program. Download it, install it, it will automatically update its virus database, then open it, go to the options and click on the option to "remove" malware THEN run the scan and it will clean your computer.

It's usually indicative that you either already have an antivirus program installed (anti virus software treats other anti virus software as a virus) or you have a virus. Here are several links. The first is for the free version of AVG 9.0
This link if for a free online anti virus program by Trend Micro Systems called Housecall
I'd recommend a full anti virus scan on Housecall. After which you could either choose to continue to check on a regular basis or for realtime protection, download and install AVG 9.0.
