The red power light on the front of my 57h81 Blicks but there seems to be no code. when you hit the power button it will display a steady light then begin to blink with no code. i can't find a fuse and it acts like it wants to turn on then the light starts flashing.
This sounds like the typical toshiba power regulator ic fault. it begins with an str##### Its not something a handyman should try to tackle. It should be repaired by a quilified repair person Sorry Good Luck
Drill it
You have a couple of grounds that loose on the main board. I just had best buy out and they fixed it in 10 min. Charged me $90 for the service call. I would tell you exactly which ones to look for but I have not a clue. All I know they were towards the back of the board near the audio connectors. Hope this helps.

blinking power light on front
I have the same problem I also had best buy come over but they wanted to charge me $500 but he gave me the part number in case if I wanted somebody else to fix it. The part # he gave me is 23786217 power/deflection circuit board.
I am having the same problem with my TV.The red power light continues to blink and the TV will not turn on.It acts like its gonna, then you hear 2 clicks and the light starts blinking again. It seems to me like it has something to do with the remote control reciever, because pushing the on/off button manually has no effect at all.
Same problem as described above
I have the same issue. Pulled the back panel and the looked for fuses on the circuit board. The obious one, behing the power cord connection, was good (ergo the blinking red light). Since I've got the set plugged into a good quality MONSTER power product, I doubt if it was any kind of surge. Do I repair or just get a new DLP is my question?
I have the same issues as everyone but it is on a different model - TP50H95 - I tried unplugging to reset but no success.....
I heard a small pop, like a light bulb when they go out, and the screen went dark. Audio is still there, but blinking light in front is something new, I believe. Help!! Unit is 18 months old.

Same problem - blinking power light. No picture.
Has anyone been successful at fixing this?
I have same issue on an 57H81 that we have owned since new in 2002. TV also connected to a Monster 1100 Powerbar which still shows proper functioning so spike was not the issue. Just turned it on once a couple days ago and got nothing but the flashing LED. Anyone have any idea on pricing for the repair here in Canada?
Toshiba 50H81 projection tv. I have had the same problem with the steady blinking power light. If the tv stays off with no power supply or unplugged for about 15 minutes it will come on when power is returned. I have been using my receiver to supply power. The only time there is a problem is when the electricity goes out & comes back on within a few minutes as there has to be a good 10- 15 minute "reset" time. I know that I need to get it repaired but due to cost I'm just waiting!
My tv is a Toshiba 57H81 bought in 2002. Now have the same blinking light problem others have. Watched tv a couple hours before leaving house and upon return to home, found red blinking power light. I attempted to power on using remote and power button on front of unit. Will not turn on. Was told by repair people it is in a power protect mode. Received differnt answers as to possible cause. Did the person who posted comments on Aug. 2008 get your tv repaired, and if so what was the solution? Thanks
same problem with mine I love the tv took very good care of it but one day like one other said i heard a little pop like when a light blub goes then the power light started flashing does anyone know what type of lamp or bulb I can't find it online
This is a real problem, I too am having this issue however I live in Okinawa, Japan. The closest best buy is, 1600 or so miles away! Wish me luck. At an approximate repair cost of 500.00 dollars I wonder if it wiser to purchase a new set?
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MINE HAPPEN WHEN I MOVED FROM ONE HOUSE TO ANOTHER. IT WAS WORKING FINE, BUT ONCE I MOVED THE BLINKING LIGHT STARTED TO HAPPEN. HAS ANYONE GOT THIS FIXED YET?
Same television, same problem... did anyone find a solution besides calling for repair?
My toshiba pwoer light blinks I can unplug it for a few minutes it will come back on for five minutes then go off and the light blinks.
My friend gave me 57h81 and Im waiting for a fix.
I have a Toshiba TheaterView Tv and the picture just dissapears and than the power light on the front blinks. I called Toshiba and they said that the part to fix the problem has been DISCONTINUED im not sure if other places have the part or know how to fix it. I've unpluged it and pluged it back before and waited but every time this problem happens it seems that it takes longer and longer to regain the picture. I hope this helps.
My 55 inch rear projection Cinema View just did the same thing last night. Cant get it to turn back on. Pulled power etc as well. I saw one post that the fix is a power convergence board, or something like that and it should cost $400, not sure if that was for the board or the total fix. It might be time to change out my TV. It is 8 year old and we use it alot, I really liked it and dont believe we can find another one like it....
We had the same problem. 2002 57H81. Repairman replaced the power supply. $180 for the part. $160 for the labor. And he adjusted the convergence. Picture is brighter than when we brought it home. Completely worth the $340 for a 7 year-old TV.
Same thing here, however there are 2 white modules marked 0.62 ohm k 15w located on the left side, these are VERY hot , dusted w/ compressed air and moved slightly and it seemed to work. As I am not an electrician can someone tell me what these are,and could this be a possible fix ?
No picture with blinking light, but we do have sound. Tried to reset by unplugging, but did not work. We do hear a clicking sound when we plug the set back in. Can anyone help?
i have a toshiba 2002 its starting to turn off just because its never done it when i unplugg it and plugg it back inn its starts working again i think the fuse is going out but i dnt knw it works but for a short period of time. so can anyone help me out e mail me at [email protected]
We have 50H81 bought in Jan 2002. This Saturday got the red blinking light, couple of pops and then no picture, just sound. Unplugged for a while and everything came back ok. On Sunday same thing but we never got the picture back.
Called Toshiba and they gave me a repair center. They came out on Monday and said it's the power supply and the deflelction board. Price started at $425-$450 but they dropped to $380. Since the set is 7 years old wasn't sure whether to repair or go for a new LCD. The shop offers a 60 day guarantee but said Toshiba stands behind their parts. Decided to repair, should have the set back in 10 days or so. Hoping I made the right decision
Toshiba 65H83(65H14) is giving me a constant flashing power light.
What type of carma and fen shuay is that I ask you.
I have the same problem in Seattle and cost to just come out and diagnose is $232 for labor and $97 truck charge not including parts.
For that price I can load this Japanese white elephant back on a pallet and take it back to Sams Club for an exchange.
Solution is always buy big ticket items at Sam's Club. The devil is in the details. E&M
