-   how do you put the drive belt back onto the washing machine it seems too small to get over the drum and the small spindle at the bottom-   danieljermyn
It doesn't look like a belt problem, it "sound" more than a problem with the transmition between the drive motor and the inner tub. Another direction - maybe that a sock or other piece of clothing get between the clothes tub and the outer tub and prevent tub's spining. Good luck !
Coleen, you can get a visual on the belt by removing the two bottom screws on the front panel and pulling down a little on it and pulling it out from the bottom. There will be two clips that hold it on the top. Make sure your lid switch is operative first of all. After you have the front panel off, put it into spin and see what happens. If the belt seems to be o.k., there could be other problems. One of them would be the transmission itself. You do have a five year warranty on the trans..parts only. You could have something in the pump which would cause the motor to bind and not turn the trans. Or you could have something between the basket and tub causing your problem. Truley hope this helps..
The noise could've been caused gy the machine being out of plumb or badly loaded (too much load on one side.
The fact that it would cause the machine to jump around could mean your belt has simply fallen off.
Does it sound as if the motor is still working. If it doesn't it could mean the machine needs a reset. Somewhere on the back should be a plastic button to reset the electronics. It would be a lot easier to see the machine but I don't do house calls :-)

it would be nice if people would forget about bad loads or adjusting a load, uusually if a wash machine is making noise and now it won't spin, there is probably something alot more wrong then the load, thanks for nothing, bm

String caught in drum. Tangled. Got lid off, and ring off, but the string goes down between 2 drum walls - the wall with the holes and the solid outer one. Can we lift inner (holed) drum/basin out somehow?

During the wash cycle the washer was making a clunking noise. Then the agitator stopped and you can hear a loud hum. The can still run the washer through its cycles including the water filling and draining and the lid locking when appropriate. Is this a belt problem or did the motor go out?

I bought a used frigidaire top load washer Model GLWS1233AS1 about 3 months ago. After it fills, the agitator does the normal back-forth, back-forth. The entire tub on the other hand keeps turning clockwise on a stop-go, stop-go pattern with the agitator. Is this normal? I am noticing some of my clothes are getting a dirt build up in them over the last month or so. The clothes seem to just follow the tub, and not get sucked into the agitator.
