- I am using Solaris 10 on Asus M2A-VM motherboard. But the onboard sound card ALC883 does not give sound despite getting the drivers loaded ( I get speaker icon at taskbar).The os is solaris 10 u5.

Check the device manager if theres a yellow exclamation point
if there is then most likely its a hardware issueCheck on the sound properties on control panel if its on mute
configure the speakers if it is on stereo or 5.1 if you have a 5.1 system
that should do it
