I can't get my hp deskjet 845c printer to set as a default printer for my labtop. i'm usuing the usb cable, i don't have the software to installed it. and when i chose the add printer option my printer is not one of the option. I'm puzzle please help me

You need to install the printer driver. You can download the HP printer drivers from their support WEB site. Please click on this link and select your model printer to download :- http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
there is no software / driver for 845c, a basic driver that allows you to print is already included in your computer, just plug in the printer and turn it on and it should work - get detected and you should be able to print.
just make sure you actually select the printer when printing.
Go to www.hp.com > Downloads > Put HP Deskjet 845C in as model > Select Operating System (Windows XP, Vista or 7)> Download driver (select basic or complete) > Disconnect USB connector to printer > Double click on Printer driver to begin installation > Connect USB from Printer when told to do so during the Printer installation. Disconnect your HP printere from your usb port and then reconnect it back and use another USB port. Make sure that you install the driver for your printer and then try it again.
When the orange light is flashing, either paper jam or ink problem is happening.Try unloaging & reloading the stack of paper in the main tray. Remove & reinsert ink cartridges in the printer. You may also clean the contacts of the cartridge and inside the product.
in normal pc this will work but on vista it will not work like that .you will need to reload the printer drivers in the vista operating syatem then only it will work.its a personal experience solved many such problems in vista by reloading the printer drivers.
Try turning the printer on while it is connected and see if the computer recognizes it. Once it does it will prompt you for the driver. Now you should be able to install the driver.
