    won`t print

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2014

the printer was printing perfectly in both black as well as color. The black cartridge was showing that the ink was low. I changed the black cartridge with a new OEM and it stopped printing black. It prints color perfectly. How can I get it to start printing black again.

Check the following thread, it might apply to your problem. and just as a printer can be fooled to show a low level ink, I guess it can happen the other way around. http://www.fixya.com/problems-solutions/t103191,p342983/Epson-Stylus-Photo-R300-InkJet-Printer.aspx Good luck

Ran out of ink fitted new cartridge still showing no ink fitted another cartridge still same any clues

If you are using non-original or refilled cartridges, it is common for printers to not acknowledge the ink levels. On most, you have to acknowledge that you are using non-original or used cartridges and then override the ink level sensors. After that, most printers will work. You just won't see ink level monitoring.

Won't print color--says color low

Hi
re-installing software probably would not achieve anything, doesn't sound like driver problem.
IF you refilled the colour cartridge and it's displaying 'ink low' or 'ink out', it's perfectly normal. You can disable the ink monitoring by pressing & holding the STOP button (on printer) until the 'Alarm' LED stops glowing. This takes about 6 seconds.
IF the colour cartridge is new and should read full, contact Canon. It could be a faulty cartridge.
good luck!

I do not need to print color documents. Will it print if I only replace the black cartridge and not the color cartridge?

you must have both cartridges fitted for the printer to work. The colour cartridge can be empty if you don't want to print any colour, but it must still be in there. When the ink monitor prompts you to replace the colour cart, just lift it out and push back down. This will reset the ink counter.
This is ok to do in emergency, but not a good practice as you'll end up with colour printhead full of air. If you're doing this to save ink, just buy some generic colour cartridges, they're quite cheap.

hope this helps

I have a brother printer and I recently bought black ink and it wont work in less i have all the colors....is this normal or is there something I can do???????

Brother machines will not work unless there is ink in all the cartridges.
This is done on purpose to make sure no air enters the ink tubes. You will have to get new colour cartridges or you will have to remove them and put black tape on the sensor area of the cartridge. This will make the machine think the colour cartridges are always full. This will also cause air in the ink tubes, and thus dry out the colour portion of the head. Once dry, it is unlikely you will get the colour working again.

Epson C46, changed coloured ink, won't print flashing red light

If the red light is flashing by itself, it means the printer thinks a cartridge is low on ink. Have a look at what the Status Monitor thinks (right click the printer Icon in the bottom Right-Hand corner and select Ink Monitor). This will show which cartridge it is. If it's the new colour cartridge, it means the cartridge is faulty (then replace it), or it is a refilled cartridge that hasn't had it's chip reset to "full". For this you will need a chip resetter, available on E-Bay very cheaply. If it's the black cartridge then replace it.

If both green and red lights are flashing, it usually means the Waste Ink Pads in your printer are saturated with ink and the waste ink "protection" counter has exceeded its limit. You can restore your printer to a working condition immediately by using the SSC utility - download from:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Install it, and double click the ssc printer icon in the bottom right corner (System Tray). Choose Configuration and set your printer type (C4x), then close the ssc window. Now right click the ssc icon in the sytem tray and choose Protection Counter. You should see that the current count is above the limit; then choose reset to set it to zero. You will need to fib about having changed the waste ink pads! Turn the printer off then back on again. This will stop the lights flashing and restore normal operation.

However, remember that eventually ink will overflow from the waste ink area and make a dreadful mess, so you must change the waste ink pads before this happens. This requires the disassembly of the printer.

If you decide to have a go at replacing the ink pads yourself, report back and I will provide further help. It is a pretty simple job once someone explains how to get the case apart!

First, download the software at http://www.box.net/shared/4yblbn34kg

Secondly, to run the software your printer has to be in service mode. Do that by
- unplug cable
- press and hold "power" button
- plug cable
- press "resume" and release
- release the "power" button
At this stage, your computer will detect a new hardware

Run the software.

oke
