my printer has been working quite normally. I have recently changed cartridges and all colour cartridges show full on the ink monitor.the nonly colours that print are black and yellow - I have even changed the cartridges again and followed all instructions carefully - but suddenly only yellow and black will print

Check the following thread, it might apply to your problem.
and just as a printer can be fooled to show a low level ink, I guess it can happen the other way around.
