Question about PC Desktops
Assuming that this is a windows logon password (not a BIOS password): we have two more choices... either we might be using vista or an XP..
However if you are lucky enough to have XP you may try loggin using a guest or default admin account under safe mode (* by tapping F8 key when computer boots) and then change the password NOTE: even this procedure might require you to remember the password under change password screen and might sometimes be helpful., you can even try doing a system restore :) .
And if we use VISTA.. we might try the above procedure but it is seldom helpful. so we need to take help of other tools like Offline NT Password and Registory Editor.
If you use XP a simple googling might help to hack your password, for Vista you either need to reinstall it again or try third party tools as the one mentioned above.
