Question about GE 24GP653 24" TV

No sound, blue screen with blur of red, an green

Hello , I hope someone can help me with this ??, its a GE Model # 24GP653, I removed the back , an on the larger of the 2 circuit boards I found these 3 items burnt an loose ,,, resister board # R471, a Cap board # C471, Diode #VD401A,,,,, I think I can solder them back in place. The Diode appers cracked I can probaly get that at like a Radio Shack , I dont know if this will repair the problem, but guess it cant hurt it ,,,, Thanks in advance for any help ,, Jim

The resistor overheated as a result of the diode or the capacitor went bad. Your gonna need to get a schematic diagram and find out what the part #s are as you cant just put in any type of diode capacitor or resistor. Also see what thay voltage source feeds and make sure nothing else is shorted.. Good Luck

Is there a reset switch for a 2002 GE Tube TV?

Sorry to say, but unless you had the set opened up, there is no switch that would cause this. This is a vertical problem that could be as simple as poor solder connections on the vertical IC itself. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Please note that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present inside the set even when unplugged.

If you plan on attempting the repair, update this and I will provide additional details and instructions.

Screen Is Blurred

Did you try hitting the small button on the front of the tv labled flash focus? Try pushing this button because this model only features auto focus for aligning the red/green/blue projectors.

The picture is only producing the basic colours red green and blue

You can start with the make, model and age off the back of
the TV..........................T.

if you take the back off the tell their should be two plastic screws one is view and the other is focus they should be by the arial socket have a look for them if you are unsure take it to repair shop they should do this for next to nothing hope this is some help ...............................................

trust me you got your hands full if you can't remember the lock key if not the the easiest solution i know of, is replacing the eprom IC .
