Re: tv picture

Sounds like it could be a problem in the vertical sweep curcuit as if the vert sweep fails it blanks out the video and screen drive so the tubs dont get a line burnt into the face of the picture tube. Have this checked out by a pro as I doubt if you can do this repair unless your an electronic tech.. Good Luck

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - TV TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is ...'' grrrrrr '' like noise comes ---no picture , no sound - (in case if picture & audio comes also it won't stay for much time) that noise is from EHT solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching TV --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as sevice charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact TV service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily. ------------ [[ sometimes along with EHT another component called transistor ( big in size - situated close to EHT - it will have 3pins - its size will be 1inch X 1/2 inch X 1/2 cm --approximately ---- black in colour ----- fixed to aluminium metal ) --- will also gets deffective --- so this component also should be checked ]]

Screen turns green The picture and sound are fine when I turn on the tv. After about thirty seconds the screen turns green and then turns off and the power light blinks.

Sad to say, but that's one of the ways a picture tube can behave when it's gone bad. After it warms up, one of the wire elements in the neck of tube sags and touches something it shouldn't. As a result you're seeing the green screen, and then the set shuts down for safety because of voltage feeding back. The only way to repair the set would be with a new tube, and that's completely uneconomical. You can buy a new 32-inch LCD set now for less than the price of a new tube, not including the labor to install the replacement and get the color alignment (convergence) set up.

Slow to come on, picture flashes black, 32" SONY tv

blankenship, the "IK circuit" is blanking your screen, only "fix" is temporary, remove back of tv, and on rear right side (facing into the back of the set) you can see 2 philips type plastic screws mounted on the flyback transformer, one is focus the other is screen, do not adjust focus , turn screen control clockwise slowly until you get white retrace lines on screen, then turn counterclockwise until retrace lines disappear, this increases drive from tube to IK circuit, will last anywhere from 6 months to 18 months and then it`s replacement time, questions? e-mail me back. good luck, BMW Rider

Tosh widescreen ghosting vertical lines

there is no convergence adjust in a 32" tv. Convergence is done when there is more than 1 picture tube, ie; 50" projection sets have 3 tubes so convergence can go out. post the model number of your set and we can help more, BMW Rider

32 RCA makes popping sounds

It needs a new FLY BACK transformer. That is what you are looking at. The origionals are not made for the set any longer but insist on having a generic on installed by a local TV shop. I just put one into a RCA 31" and it works nice. Don't throw away the TV. Get it fixed. MAKE SURE YOU INSIST THEY USE THE GENERIC ONE! THEY DO WORK!

Television has audio but a black screen

Bad technicians always say picture tube problem when the TV has black screen with sound. This a false statement and in some cases techniciacns use this to scare the owner or the charge a hefty amount. The truth is that picture tube outlast most component in the TV. If it will fail, it is gradual like the colors will fade or one or several color will be missing. This condition is the degration of the filament in the gun (CRT tv has three -Red, green , blue) I started to repair TV in the early 80's and only in one occasion that the Tube fail and it is a crack in the neck. For black screen with sound, the most common cause is the HV supply problem / Horizontal section. This can be caused by many things, like flyback transformer failure, horizontal outout transistor, horizontal drive, etc. For the cost-depends on where you are, in some countries labor is dirt cheap, in other ountries the parts are expensive.

Might be a bad CRT or bad video output IC that drives the CRT that would cause this issue.
