Question about Bosch Axxis+ WFR 2460 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Bosch wfr2460 The machine has recently had new brushes, but after a month the spin has stopped, but it washes fine apart from this.

The bushes were sightly burned and a new set of bushes coupled with a clean up of the rotor helped too.
But the machine now spins still leaves the washing wet though and there may be a problem with the drain pump. The  pump spins OK, but still doesn't clear all the water properly. Could there be a blockage? I have had a quick visual check but the pipes appear clear.
    Thanks.

Hi Many universal motor malfunctions are caused by wearing down of the carbon brushes, the soft blocks of carbon that complete the electrical contact to the motor's commutator. When these brushes become worn, the motor will spark, and electrical contact may be incomplete.try this
Step 1: To sight-check the carbon brushes, remove the screws that hold the brushes and brush springs into the brush holders at the sides of the commutator. The screws will pop out of the screw holes; turn the motor over to tap out the brushes. The ends of the brushes should be curved to fit the commutator; if they're worn down, new brushes are needed.
Step 2: To check carbon brushes with a continuity tester, remove the motor lead wires from the circuit. Tag the wires as you disconnect them so that you'll be able to reconnect them properly. Hook the tester clip to one motor lead and touch the probe to the other lead; the tester should light or buzz. Slowly rotate the motor shaft, keeping the tester in position. If the tester doesn't light or buzz, or if it flickers or stutters when you turn the motor shaft, the brushes should be replaced. If the springs behind the brushes are damaged, they should be replaced as well.

Step 3: Replace worn carbon brushes and damaged springs with new ones made specifically for the motor. The model information (number and make) is stamped on a metal plate fastened to the motor, or embossed on the metal housing of the motor. If you can't find the model information, take the worn brushes and springs with you to an appliance-parts store to make sure you get the right kind. Insert the new springs and brushes in the brush holders, replace the brush assemblies, and secure the new brushes with the mounting screws that held the old brushes.

Not spinning and water not draining

Had several Bosch machines do thus because they have very high speed on spins the motor brushes can become chipped and worn down especially if someone replaced them using non Bosch brushes.
they cost about £30 a pair whereas the more common ones are about £7. Now they may not look worn down but if there is a lot a black dust in and around the motor it's a sure sign something is wrong.best bet really is to go to eBay and buy a new motor as the reconditioned ones cost the same as the genuine brushes £30.but if you think you can get by with the £7 version you may another 18 months out of the machine before you have to replace.hope that is helpful.

Washing machine will not engage drum in wash or spin mode

it sounded like the brushes have gone but you said you replaced them right? usually when the drum stops spinning its because the brushes have completely worn down and there is nothing left are you sure you snapped them into place properly or brought the correct model numbered ones? then are very difficult to get into the correct place I had a very similar problem and it took four attemps to get them in thr right place they are not the most easiest of things to do. if you have then it might be the motherboard electrical component if this is the case you will need a new machine im afraid if you dont have that much disposable funds try the freecycle website the offer free stuff look for you nearest area and take a look

Bosch wfr2460 washer not working after replacing motor with new motor- will not spin at all

Have you checked to see if it is wired correctly? Next, is there a run capasitor that goes to the moter, ir is it wired directly to the moter?
If it has a capasitor, you might need to change that. Any time you replace a motor, you always replace the capasitor with it. Let me know what you find out and we can move forward from there.

Bosch wfl2000 machine works on every cycle apart from spin, washes drains etc but wont spin. Cheched brushes and removed and had motor tested all ok, belt fine, any ideas- Controller!!

are you sure its heating the water as it will not complete the wash cycle if the heater has failed, hence not getting to the spin cycle. try testing heater or see if water is warm coming out or glass warms up

Wfr2460 bosch washer drum not spinning.washer displays wash rinse, and spin cycles but no movement.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

This sounds very much like the belt is broken or, at worst, the motor is malfunctioning. Belts are not expensive- sorry I do not know how much yours would cost- and are easy to be changed by a competent person:-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE MACHINE AND REMOVE THE BACK.
The motor support bolts should be loosened and the old belt removed. Often putting the new belt on is a bit of a struggle, even with the motor 'loose', because it is new and smaller!
Once on it should be tensioned by pulling the motor against the belt firmly- but not over tight- and the motor support bolts tightened.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD ANY FORM OF LEVERAGE BE USED TO TENSION THE BELT. THAT COULD LEAD TO DAMAGE TO THE BELT, MOTOR AND BEARINGS- EXPENSIVE!

If it turns out to be the motor, it is false economy to just have the brushes changed although financially very attractive. Experience of others is that the brushes may only last months unless, that is, the motor is totally refurbished at the same time. It depends on how old the motor is and how much wear the commutator has had.

Hope this is your problem solved.
Good luck,
John C

Front load washing machine would not spin now won't wash either.

Sounds like you have a broken belt or a bad motor. The easiest way to tell if the belt is bad is to reach inside the drum and turn it. If it turns very easily, you probably have a bad belt or something has caused the belt to jump off, such a s a loose pulley or bad bearing. If it feels like there is a good amount of resistance, or a kind of "winding up" noise, then the belt is still on and you likely have a bad motor. Also, you could just scoot the macine out, unplug it, and remove the back cover a look inside to see if the belt is still on the pulleys. Good Luck!
