Question about Zenith Z35X21D 35" TV

Zenith model SR3587 Picture too wide

After getting several bright flashes, picture went black then more flashes followed by a centered, verticle line, then black again. A few seconds later the picture came back, but it is too wide for the screen. FAces are broad, scripts are cut off an either end. Verticle seems ok.

Re: Zenith model SR3587 Picture too wide

There are a couple of coils that are for pincussion and width that get cold solder connections on them and sometimes will blow out the curcuit. Maybe its not to late to resolder them? Good luck

These sets are famous for loose connections in the horizontal circuit. If the line is going from top to bottom you still have high voltage but no yoke drive. Either a capacitor has gone bad or there is a loose connection to the yoke plug. This is a pretty "hot" circuit so you may want to have a repair shop check it out for you. Thanks

Bright horizontal line across black tv screen

Hi There,
If your picture has collapsed to just a horizontal line across the center of the screen, this indicates that your Vertical Output circuit is bad and needs to be serviced by a qualified technician. I hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

No picture, black screen

Not a TV Technician, use the following information at your own risk. Two things you can do first: using the keys on the front of your set press and hold the menu button when while holding it down it goes from menu to channel listing press the adjust (<->) and channel up buttons simultaneously to get to the factory set up screen once there use the select button to scroll to next set up screens locate the contrast it should range from 1-63 find the one you like. Second: for the horizontal lines not to say that this is the solution there are two adjustment apparatuses inside the TV chassis if your familiar with taking the set apart and not getting shocked and hurt59274cc.jpg two dials on the fly back transformer ones for focus the other brightness you can try these fixes but I have to say again that you use at your own risk. I do hope though that the information is useful

TV: bright line across black screen for several hours.

vertical output ic needs to be resoldered. careful leaving that bright line displayed on the screen as this will cause a permanent phosphor burn into the tube. this can not be corrected once burned unless you replace the tube. mch

Logik lt2974 small picture

the problem is in the verticle section, if you are a technician check a verticle IC and a capacitor of that stage. to allocate a verticle stage follow 4 cables coming down from deflection coils, two of these wires goes near transformer, this is horizotal and the other two goes near an IC this is verticle. positive idea.

You have a number of bad capacitors in the vertical circuit. If you can solder, you should be able to repair this yourself. I'll look up your model to get the parts needed.
