Question about JVC AV-56WP74 56" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

3 Answers

JVC AV-56WP74 When I hit the power button (remote or on the TV) power initially is applied, I hear some clicking (same as when it worked before), and then the power indicating light on the front starts blinking. No sound, no picture, no menus, and it doesn't react to hitting the power button or the remote. You have to unplug it to turn it off from this semi-on state. Everything was working fine yesterday, and nothing was changed until the TV wouldn't come on. Any ideas

It is worth getting an estimate. From the symptom you explained, it looks like the horizontal output transistor became defective.

The JVC remote control, model JVC RM-SXVS60J, has stopped working as far as the bottom buttons go even though the top buttons work fine. If you can help, please.

Since the top buttons are working fine, i doubt that the remote is faulty. Sometimes its due to moisture/dust accumilating on the remotes board and creates a barrier against the board and the buttons. You may need to open the remote and clean the surface of the mainboard.

Hope this helps

Tv wont power up makes a noise but no picture

Your power transformer is likely shot. It'll cost at least $200 to have it replaced. Someone can come to your house to diagnose it. Usually costs around $65.

Jvc av-56wp74 power up failure

Hello hwkdoc,

What has happened is that your shutdown circuit relay has tripped and it looks like it also may have malfunctioned. This however is not the cause of your problem but a symptom. The cause of your problem is an over-current condition caused by one of the systems in your TV, I would suspect the high voltage power supply or the switching low voltage power supply. These are the first places to look, if they are not the problem then check the convergence correction amplifiers. Right now the shutdown circuit is keeping the TV from coming on. If you do not have a background in electronics I would advise you to have a qualified TV technician analyze and repair your TV.

Thank you,

Big screen tv repair

There is a short in this TV set somewhere. The TV set is trying to come on but because of the short, the power supply shuts down. No if it is not the over current shutdown, it could also be the main power supply with an over voltage shutdown protection mode. These are solid state TV sets and should only be worked on by trained techs. Good Luck
