The set actually has a "3 strikes and you are out design".
It will try three times and if fails shut the set down.
This model is prone to bad solder connections at and near the high voltage transformer---also to bad parts in that same area which include: the transformer, the sweep transistor near it, and the high voltage splitter block it feeds.
Typical high voltage transformer that is also called a FLYBACK.
It depends on what is wrong and you can narrow it down with the self check your set has.
If set has been unplugged--plug it in and turn it on--when green power light comes on and shortly after goes out----on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at same time for at least 5 seconds and release both.
Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it for a total of five times.
Typical reset sequence is: unplug the set, press the power button a few times ( Yes, with the set unplugged ). Then, hold the power button down and at the same time ( maybe with your other hand ) plug the set in. If that doesn't do it, there may be a button marked reset on the back of the set. If there was a lightning strike nearby, your set is probably toast. The antenna or cable brings it into the house.
This is usually an indication of a failure in the scan amplifier sections. When the scan amplifiers or high voltage sections fail, the main power supply will usually also require servicing.
It is very common that the fly-back and high voltage multiplier and also the horizontal output stage fails in these sets. Along with it, the power supply will usually require to be serviced. On rare occasions, the vertical deflection amp fails.
I need the model number of your set. And can you count exactly how many blinks the power light blinks when you press power? Please respond to this same post so all comunication will be available for each response.
