Re: gps malfunction

Try updating the firmware. I heard of the "no pos" message fixed after a firmware update, and also with fresh NimH bats. could be that it's just not getting enough power from the bats to make the connection. Good luck

Gps Malfunction

GPS must be able to "See" at least 3 satellites to comprehend it's location. So, make sure you have a clear view of the sky. And keep it switched on for around 5 minutes to allow it to re-align.

Hi, My Garmin nuvi displays 'gps is off' which means i am unable to de directed correctly as its saying im in the middle of no where. Please can you help? Thank you Laura

There are two possibilities as to why your GPS is not responding.

The first is to check your System Settings. Although it should not affect your GPS signal, check to see if the WAAS / EGNOS setting was turned off. If so, try turning it back on.

The other possibility is that the Garmin device is not reporting the status of your antenna properly. When the Antenna is closed on the nuvi 350, it disables the GPS functionality. Simply open the antenna to re-enable GPS. If the antenna IS open, there could be a hardware malfunction. This would require contacting Garmin for additional assistance.

My rino 110 will not stay on in cold weather, it will turn on but then turn right back off again. What can be done?

Batteries do not fuction well in cold weather. Use a better battery like the lithum or warm up the battery by rubbing back and forth on your pants both sides pos and neg.

Unit makes sounds but no display

If unit is as per pic I assume it has external antennae. Ensure the multi pin plug is secure in the rear of the unit and also use a fully charged 12 volt battery, Has it been working before?? Usually a rear plug problem. How old is unit. Just had a another thought, check that the polarity is correct, ie pos wire to RED (Pos) on battery. Very polarity sensitive.

Pioneer Avic-F700BT worked perfectly fine for 7 months but....

My pos just did this today after I got in a hot car (had windows up for security).
Briefly displayed the PIONEER default splash screen, LED lighting was the default ... light/bright pink (to match pioneer?).
Then screen goes black, then backlight gets fully dimmed and LED dims to darks white (R,01G,01B01)

Wouldn't really respond to anything... but plays CD in background.

I had a brainstorm while sitting in my car at ACC (ignition) and reading the lame online TS guide.
I turned my car to ON and put the gear shift in REVERSE.
The screen flashed to the password, and flashed black again....
Some how the system stablelized after some time and I resurrected it*.

* After tinkering I found ALL settings except the NAV data/settings had been lost.
In addition I believe corruption has occured in the memory holding the voice data. TTS... that phone thing voice command wont display when i press down on the Multi-nav? dial. Also system crashes when I try to access language settings. Sometimes a Windows CE error message bled thru reporting a fatal application error. Illegal operation request...

Hope this helps. I think my POS is going back to cartoys before my 30days is up.

Have you gone through the "Initialize" process again? If the memory has been cleared you will need to re-initialize. Refer to page 4 of your manual. Power On > Select Language > "ENTER" > INITIALIZE screen > "ENTER" > Select Region > "ENTER" > Select Area > "ENTER" > Enter Elevation > "ENTER" (if you don't know elevation, press enter) > Enter Time > "ENTER" > Enter Date > "ENTER"
