Hi - When talking about resolution in digital photography there are two main meanings.
One is the "pixel count resolution" and the other "embedded resolution". So for example your camera could record 2272*1704 as the actual pixel count resolution and set 72 as the embedded resolution that tells other software (for example photoshop) what the intended use of the picture will be. 72 ppi is the default for web pictures. You can change this in photoshop by going to the "Image" tab & select image size. The window that opens will show you the pixel dimensions i.e. pixel count resolution and the document size & resolution 72. You just change it in your software to 300 for printing. In Photoshop you can change the default to 300 by going "edit", "preferences", "units & rulers" and setting the values for "new document preset resolutions".

So for your camera the embedded resolution is 180 which you can only change in your PC software.

This is a complex subject, I recommend looking at the following web page:

I need to reset my Lumix DMC-TZ5, the problem is that it is stuck in USB, so when I press Menu/set it just tries to connect via USB and nothing about reset comes up no matter how long I hold Menu/set

Do a manual reset. Remove the card and battery...press all the buttons...leave it alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on.

You can set the megapixels and the quality but not the dpi. DPI is a setting for printers and scanners.

That's not how it works. You can set the size to a different number of megapixels and a different quality such as "fine" or "standard".

What would be the very best settings on the DMC-TZ5 camera for an indoor rock concert?

Without flash the DMC TZ5 still does well. The photo has a good level of detail. It also has a natural look to it. Once again there is that bit more colour in the shot than I am used to seeing.

The way Panasonic manage the ISO settings is a little different to other brands. With the DMC TZ5 you set the maximum ISO rating you wish to use and then the camera is intelligent to work out the actual setting. This tends to produce better results than with other brands in most situations.

Hope helped.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3 72 dpi problem

Sounds like Photoshop's setting, or default setting, is to import picture at its maximum size. If you RESIZE pic on Photoshop, it shoud automatically increase DPI while reducing physical size.

The other thing to be aware, TZ3 defaults to a certain jpg compression. You can minimize compression of data with settings options on TZ3, but I doubt this has anything to do with your PhotoShop issue.

Also, in SIMPLE mode you can select a physical size for photo, even after pic is taken(resize), on camera.

Hopes this helps.
