I just called LG and they said that when the CAR KIT mode comes on it means that it's a warning that the speaker is not working. There is no way to take it off (from what the guy at LG said). My phone went into CAR KIT mode and I think it might have to do that it got wet or something. (my daughter might have had it in her mouth!) Just an FYI.

Lg vx8300 verizon says car kit display have no

Car kit mode means one of two things, first it could have a piece of lint or paper stuck in the charge port making it think there is a car kit plugged in, or second it could be that some moisture got into the port and its giving a indication that something is plugged in. and thats why you're not getting any sound. There is no specific setting to turn on or off 'car kit' mode you can use a paper clip or something and mess with the port a little bit to see if 'car kit' goes away or replace phone

I am unable to connect to a bluetooth car kit with my samsung omni hd i8910 phone. Have spent hours reviewing settings on my handset and reviewing phone user guide. I have also checked handset is...

there's 2 things you need to do to get these 2 devices to communicate. One is to make the bluetooth kit "findable" (for lack of a better term). and also have your phone search for the searchable device.
I'm not sure what your phone car kit is.... but check the instructions on how to put it into search mode. (I know that with a bluetooth headset, you hold the on button in and the indicator will change to a different color indicating search mode.
once you figure this part of the equation out, then access the phone menu for blue tooth and search for bluetooth findable equipment and it should list your car kit on the phone screen.
After that it is just a matter of entering a typical 0000 id code if needed and it should be paired with your carkit.
hope this helps...

Car kit mode

Car kit mode is usually caused by debris in the phone's cable connector (at the bottom of the phone). The debris causes two or more contacts to be electrically connected to each other, causing the phone to think it's connected to a car kit. Remove the battery from the phone and clean the cable connector contacts with some rubbing alcohol and the corner of a towel. Also, try using an opened paperclip to scrape the contacts in the connector, this will remove any corrosion that may have built up.
Also this can happen due to shortening of the 2 power pins at the bottom. Try using an alluminium piece cone shaped and toggle the pins. They will come out. Car Kit mode comes sometimes due to moisture in the power pins, shortening it.

Same problem as this person.

Hello

Im sorry to hear about your problem.

If this problem happened directly after getting water on your phone then it could have been a result of shorting out and putting the phone in car kit mode (the mode for when you are using it along with a car kit) . If this is the case then your phone can't be fixed.

If the problem did not appear after the water damage then you may want to refer to the manual to find instructions on switching the phone off of cat kit mode.

Post back if you have any further questions. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

A clarification on solution #1: Try pressing the tip of the knife (I used the end of a nail file) onto the lower right hand side of the charger area. That's what got it for me. If that doesn't work, try other parts of the end...
