i got my tv from my parents and they set the v-chip but forgot the password. now i can't watch a lot of nice programs, so i wonder if there is a way to reset it. i read the manual and it says, and i quote: " If you forget the password you cannot set the v-chip. to avoid forgetting the password, write it down and keep it in a safe place". they didn't write it down, so i've tried every combination of numbers that comes to mind, with no luck. can you help me, please? thanks!
I had the same problem. Here's what Toshiba emailed to me:
Disconnect the AC power for at least one minute to reset the clock.
Adjust the volume to the minimum using the Volume down button on the front of the unit.
Press and hold the Volume down button on the front of the unit and the 0 button on the remote control at the same time, holding them down for at least 10 seconds.
The user menu will appear with the V-Chip cursor blinking.
Press the ENTER key on the remote control and the NEW PASSWORD menu will appear.
Like I said before, I contacted Toshiba Customer Service/Support at: customer_support@tac
p.com and they promptly e-mailed me the instructions to reset the V-Chip. Easy and free!

Hooked up external Toshiba DVD player to Toshiba MW20FP1 TV/DVD/VCR combo. Red,yellow and white plugs into LINE 2 jacks on front of TV. Used remote to select input as LINE 2. (Have to be in TV/VCR mode to get the Select Input button to work). When I put movie disc in, I get as far as the Menu (play movie, scenes, etc) and no matter which button I push on my remote, it won't play. A green icon shaped like a video cassette appears in the lower right corner. Any helpful hints? Thank you!
