I have a 53" Hitachi Ultra-vision TV, it works well and I like it. The problem is that sometimes it turns white&black, and when I hit it little bet on the side it turns back on colors. Can someone help...

I reckon there is something loose inside, could be on one of the boards insdie. the unit will need to be opened and locked at to see what is the actual cause.

From ym pov only thing i can say is something is loose you going to need to hire a repair guy to fix it if you cannot.

How do i fix little bug looking spot on tv screen?

Can you elaborate a little? On the screen? Is it an image issue? Is there something on the outer glass? Or something between the two panels?

If you hear like whirling sound and vibration on the TV,it looks like the color wheel bearing is loosing balance and is hitting the housing unit, the color wheel spins @ 5000 rpm you will definitely notice when is going off i have this link that i found i hope it helps http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php?click=52978 it's not your TV model but at least you will have and idea of what you need to look for.

Scratch Screen

Sorry about the late posting. The protective screen can be purchased from Tritronicsinc.com using the part number KR2074. This will cost $80.36 plus shipping. This should be a straightforward replacement. The instructions are included with the screen.

Hope this helps,
Dan

Green picture

i dont think it the color wheel - to make it green the glass would of come off and the tv would be vibrating badly. to check pull the lamp out and with a flash light look at the color wheel -
you most likely got a surge that glitched the eeprom - you will need the service remote to adj the white balance
thanks

Screen is off centered

Every tv has a secret service menu accessed through a secret sequence of buttons on your non-secret remote.

With the power off, press this button sequence:

mute
1
8
2
power on

You should now be seeing the secret service menu.

TOUCH NOTHING IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT DOES!!!!!!!!!
Before you touch ANYTHING write down what the initial setting was. I mean it mister.
I think hitting volume down selects an option, while hitting "menu" takes you out of that option and into the area you were just in. There are lots of things to do here.

Before you do anything, go to the video options (there ought to be four of them), under one of them (second one I think) is the option to turn VM or SVM on or off (a setting of "zero" is off). For God's sake turn this off. I think it says "VM level" or something. Anything that says "VM" needs to be set to zero.

Now, to center the picture, I think you'll want the very top menu at the start of the service menu. One is horizontal something and the other is vertical something. BTW, it helps to have a test pattern for overscan when doing this. Do you own a copy of Digital Video Essentials? You should. Again, write down settings before you change them, so if you screw up you can fix it. To save your settings, keep hitting menu until you're back to the first screen, and hit mute twice. Then turn your tv off and back on. After using the service menu, my tv is always put in "dynamic" picture mode. Never, ever, ever use this mode. It will make the picture way too bright and kill your tv before its time. Use DVE or another calibration DVD to get the settings right on your tv.

BTW, you can also correct overscan in the service menu, but I wouldn't push it lower than 5%.

TV acts like a timer is controling the power...comes on only at night

How old is this set? If any age, might be time for a replacement, you can get a 50" for under $1000 now. Dont know about your issue, I have never heard of one not turning on because of a timer, suspect you may have a micro issue, the power cord unplug would be advisable, but sounds like you tried it, have you tried the buttons on the front? Do you clean the screen with something liquid? Some of these the buttons go bad and confuse the micro if you use liquids on the screen and let some dribble down the frame. Might pull the speaker grill off and there should be 2 1/4" screws on 2 brackets loosen and the brackets will drop, the screen can come out and there is a long connector that goes from the front to just behind the middle tube and if you unplug it it will kill the buttons on the front and if it is your problem will allow the remote to function, reassemble reverse of disassembly.
