Question about Kenmore 98702 Stacked Washer/Dryer

1 Answer

Washer overfills My Kenmore washer overfills. It doesn't matter what load size I have it at, it just fills the tub up and over the sides. I was lucky to be home when it failed since I live on the third floor. I had to click it to spin to empty the tub and it never worked properly again.

Water overflows no matter what size load is chosen

Check behind water level switch for a clear plastic vacuum line that attaches to level switch It attaches to the bottom of tub on the other end. As the tub fills , pressure fills the tube up to the level switch and turns off the water at the desired level
If this tube comes off it won't cut off at any level (overfills)

Washing Machine Keeps Filling with Water through Detergent dispen

This machine has a water valve that works on vaccuum from the tub. You will see a small clear hose that runs from the side of the tub up to this valve. This valve is adjustable to change the water level in the tub to desired setting on some machines, but if it goes bad, it will not shut off, thus overflowing the tub. Find this valve and replace it if adjustment does not work.

My Kenmore 70 is also overfilling...

Sounds like it could be a faulty water level switch. A defect or an obstruction can mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. This switch raises the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm like device with a small clear plastic tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level rises, the pressure increases on the air in the plastic tube. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch and turns off the water. It also signals the washer to begin the wash cycle. Clean out any obstruction in the plastic tube or replace the water level switch. Hope this helped.

GE WJRR4170 washer comes out of overflow tube on super load. It does not on Large load size. I have the front off and can see a large difference in water level from large to super size. Is this adjustable?

I have a 2005 model GE washer that would overfill only on SUPER size load. After looking around on the web, then inside the machine, I checked the tube from the tub to the switch, no problem there. Then I found an adjustment screw on the load size selector / pressure switch (all one piece). I moved it one turn clockwise, then ran a test cycle. I got lucky on the first try... no more overflow, the water comes up just above the top holes in the tub. I hope this will help others.

Water Dripping

you need a new fill valve, even if you ulplug the washer does it still drip? If yes then you do need a new fill valve. Just turn water off at the wall so your machine don't overfill.

Hello. Yes there is a fill level pressure switch. It is pressure activated by the pressure of water rising in a tube as the water rises in the tub. It's easy to find and easy to replace. Look for the tube and follow it to the switch. Parts for Kenmore are available at 1-800-516-9625 or at http:\www.sears.com.
Good luck.
