BeltDryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time. Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

  • Remove the belt.

  • Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

  • Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.OR you can use this link :

Test the wirings to control panel and the switch.
Try also a different outlet, and eventually check with a tester the power cord.
Also the switch must be tested.
If the wirings are ok then the whole control panel can be replaced.

If you want to buy parts you find them here.

Asko t701 dryer won't start

If yourdryer is not starting then it is your motor. To determine this there is a trick you can try. First, put a piece a tape over the safetyswitch on the dryer. Take one hand andspin your drum of your dryer as your press the start button. If it takes off, then there is a bad spot onthe motor. Another thing is to try checkto see if you are getting 220 Volts to you outlet by taking a volt meter set at250 volts. Take the red leg of the voltmeter to the one side and the black leg to the other side. If the volt reader reads 220 then you aregetting the proper voltage. Finally, ifyou are getting 220 volts then it is your dryer heating elements. On a 220 volt for the dryer one leg is forthe motor and leg is for the element.

Runs for 2 mins. then stops, push reset button & will run for 2 minutes & stops again

How long have you had the dryer? It sounds like it is overheating, and the most likely cause is accumulated lint. You can check this by removing the round plastic covers on either side panel. Just rotate them and they will pop out. Clean out any lint you see in the air channels and replace the covers.

Also check your ducting - it may be partially or fully blocked by something. You could test this by disconnecting the ducting, then running the dryer to see if it still shuts off. (Prepare for some loose lint flying out in this event.)

Asko Dryer stops running when you release the start button.

Hi, this is a simple issue here. these switches will fail from time to time. the start switch is unable to hold the circuit, in return, opening it upon release of the button.

Simply replacing the switch will fix this issue. switch is 20 dollars tops.

My Asko dryer shut off and my clothes are still wet. It won't start and the light on the pannel will not come on. I know I probably have lint in the system that escaped the lint trap or maybe something...

YOUR DRYER Has a fuse in it look for it probably somewhere close to where the main power comes in at. if it's good check the heat relay contactor assembly. www.repairclinic.com has the model you have and it may even be as simple as the door switch

This would have to be your door latch, in my opinion. The door simply is not holding in the button.
