Question about Maytag CWG3100A Gas Single Oven

F1 display and alarm will not shut off

We have a Maytag gas oven that is showing the F1 display and the alarm keeps going off. We hit the "clear" button, and within minutes, it starts making noise again. This is about to drive us nuts. Any suggestions on how to shut off the alarm? We've tried resetting the circuit breaker. Thanks!

Model is CHG9800AAE. Any suggestions would be helpful. How hard is it to change the circuit board? Someone thought that might be the problem. However, last night as long as the oven was on, the alarm didn't go off. Thanks again! We're renting a home and don't want to bother the landlord. If it's not that expensive (or hard) to fix, we'll take care of it ourselves.

sounds like you had a power outtage. the alarm is letting you know that the power went out. the clock is easy to change but it may just be the touchpad.

go to www.whirlpoolparts.ca for a an exploded view and the parts diagram.

The manual says error code "F1" means a problem occurred in the circuitry and suggests pressing "CLEAR" to reset it. If the problem persists, contact a repair guy.
See page 19: http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Springfield/316257104en.pdf
"This oven is equipped with a state of the art electronic oven control. Among its many features is a full time oven circuit diagnostics system. The control constantly monitors its internal circuitry as well as several crucial oven circuits to insure they are all operating correctly. If at any time one of these systems fails, the control will immediately stop operation, and beep continuously (flashing an error code of F1, F3 or F9 in the display window, if equipped). Electronic control has detected a fault condition. Press CLEAR to clear the display and stop the beeping. Reprogram oven. If fault recurs, record fault number, press CLEAR and contact an authorized servicer."

Cannot turn off the alarm - show F1. I turned the power off for 2 days - no help. When you hit clear off - it stops for 10 or 20 seconds then back on.

F1 code
This code usually means that there is a problem with the keypanel. Many times, it means the keypanel needs to be replaced

F1 is displayed on Maytag Electric Oven I ran the self-clean cycle on my Maytag Model MER5530 oven yesterday; before it completed F3 was displayed and beeps sounded. I pressed CANCEL, the F3...

Hi

F1 error means that you have either a bad ERC (clock) or a bad touch pad. To check these please follow these simple instructions:
  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad...
thank u

Wolf Double Oven

I had the same problem with a Wolf L-Series double wall oven (Model DO30) and called for service (under extended warranty contract). The tech told me that the F1 error is a latch problem (you know the one that grabs and locks the door during self-clean cycles). He cleared the error using a series of "secret" button presses on the control panel and the problem cleared. Now, when it happens (which isn't very frequently), I do the same thing he did ... press "0" and "Temperature" for the oven causing the problem and hold them for about 5 seconds. The oven will ding and the display will show some diagnostics, including the error event. Press "Cook Time" and "Stop Time" while in this diagnostic mode to clear the error register, then press "Off". I've also tried to keep the area across the top of the oven opening clean (with a little degreaser), especially around the latch, and I've sprayed a bit of WD-40 into the latch periodically for lubrication and cleaning.
