The drip tray should not touch the element all. it will cause a problem when you run the self-clean. sounds like the cover is too big.

The inner grill element does not heat up. I Need to replace it,how do I remove the existing element.

Grill element is normally replaced through the grill. Remove trays. Make sure power is off at the switchboard. Undo the screws holding the grill mounting plate in place and simply pull it out and remove wiring. Take note of where wires go. If the wiring is very short you may have to remove the rear cover of the range to access the wiring terminals.

My magic chef gas oven showed the F1 code. I tried to self clean the oven and some wires under the cooktop started to melt and smoke.

Hi nelson1999,

F1 error description is a defective touch pad or clock (ERC). Replace touch pad or clock (ERC). Touch pad is a more common problem.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi - I have a creda solarplus cooker (48349) - I wish to replace the 8 bar grill element with a 4 bar grill element - can you please advise me of the steps necessary to do same - yours michael clancy

It’s basically as simple as:

Turn off the gas supply to the range.
Turning off the mains power to the range.
Remove the back panel behind the grill.
Remove the 2 power connectors to the grill element.
Remove the earthing wire to the element screw terminal.
Unscrew the grill element securing screws(s) - there will be 1 or 2 depending on the element fitted to your range.
Refit the new element (make sure it has the same mounting screw holes as the one you want to remove) then secure it.
Reconnect the earthing wire to the element screw post.
Make sure that neither of the element tags touch the chassis - check with a continuity tester of ohm meter and adjust if required.
Reconnect the power cables to the element.
Reconnect the power and check that the element works correctly.
Disconnect the mains power again and replace the rear panel(s).
Reconnect the mains power and recheck that the grill functions correctly.
Turn on the gas supply.

there is no fuse actually in the oven
take rear panel off oven and use a multimeter to check continuity across the grill element. can also be the grill regulator if fitted

Hi,

How easy is it to fit a new grill element. The element on the left hand side of the grill is not working so I need to replace this. I'm just wondering if this is easy to do myself or do I need an
electrician
?

Problem w/burners & lights after self clean

You may want to re-seat the right two cooking elements, in case there is poor electrical contact. When you have them removed, clean the contacts with denatured 91% alcohol and a Q-tip. The removal procedure follows.
First, unplug the range.
LIFT–UP PORCELAIN COOKTOP
To lift:  When cool, grasp the cooktop front
edge.  Gently lift up until the two support rods
snap into place.
To lower:  Hold the cooktop front edge and
carefully push back on each support rod to
release.  Then lower the top into place.
COIL ELEMENTS
➢When an element is on, it will cycle on
and off to maintain the heat setting.
➢Coil elements are self-cleaning. Do not
immerse in water.
To remove:  When cool, raise element.  Carefully pull out and away from receptacle.
Check them for damage. They do wear out.
To replace:  Insert element terminals into receptacle.  Guide the element into place. Press down on the outer edge of element until it sits level on drip bowl.
COIL ELEMENT SURFACE
➢ On Canadian models, the two front elements will not operate during self-clean.To prevent the risk of electric shock or fire, never line drip bowls with aluminum foil.

If that does work, you may have a faulty control panel. In that case, call Maytag at the number below.
