You have to have an HDMI, DVI, HD, or RGBHV input on the back of your tv. Get the proper cable to go from your computer the tv, plug into your tv, select the right input that matches where you have plugged it in. Lastly you will have to hit function 4 on your computer to change it to remote viewing monitor.
This has everything to do with the old, busted TV and nothing to do with your Pavillion. It's not sane to use VGA or DVI >> QAM (if your TV can even handle that.)
HI, Your LG LCD monitor has a white DVI connector for connecting the signal cable.
You would reqire either an HDMI to DVI(male connector cable for the xbox) so that you can hook the hdmi cable to the xbox and other end to your monitor. The cable would look something like this http://hardware.teamxbox.com/reviews/xbox-360/40/Xbox-360-VGA-HD-AV-Cable/p1/
HERE is what you are looking for I presume.......DVI to Component correct??? if this is not it, pls be more specific in regards to the connection on the converter box.....'
if it worked fine at some point then it should work fine now... i use hdmi to hdmi from my laptop to tv all the time dvi would only cause quality loss.
the first thing i would try would be to change your resolution on your laptop to a couple different settings. a lot of times, if its not set to one thats compatible with your tv, you won't see anything.
if that doesn't work, go to personalization and open the tab that says "connect an external display" and toy around with it. but yeah it doesn't sound like you have any hardware problems there.
