To format your Sansa, connect it to computer, using USB cable.

After connecting to the computer go to computer in Windows (My computer on XP), you should see the Sansa as Removable disk.
Click the right button of the mouse on the sansa disk that you get on Computer and chose format.
If you are asked for the FAT chose FAT32.

How to download music to my sandisk sansa m230?

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. Music files need to be converted to mp3 file format before copying to the MP3 player. Please click on this link and follow my instruction to convert music files :-

Hey, sansa problem with media player 10

Try formatting the player again.
When you open windows media player it is probably showing the songs that you have on your computer not the songs currently on your sansa.

When browsing on J: drive i can see my songs that i add to it but

Not 100% sure but you probably need to rip your music to an MP3 format before you sync it to your Sansa. If you loaded it as a .wma format this would appear as you are seeing it. WinXP Media Player 11 is a simple way of doing this. Some MP3 players don't support all the formats but will llet you load them

Music not showing up even when downloaded

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
-----
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

Synchronize MP3

In order to play your song you will need to try to transfer one track to that device...once you do that all the songs should acquire new licenses...you need to transfer tracks to your device once a month in order to play the songs...you should be able to play your purchased tracks....if not you might need to format the device inside WMP....then you need to check the licenses on your purchased tracks to make sure they dont have any restrictions...if you have any questions...computerrep@gmail.com

Sansa says full but there is no files located....

You should format the device thru My Computer, rather than Windows Media Player.

FORMAT: My Computer>Device Name (m230)>Right Click and select format.

This will erase everything on the device and you can start anew.

Best of Luck.
