You'll need a phono pre amp and then you can connect to aux inputs. http://www.google.com/search?q=phono+pre+amp&rlz=1C1CHMO_enUS514US515&aq=f&oq=phono+pre+amp&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=phono+pre+amp&hl=en&tbo=u&rlz=1C1CHMO_enUS514US515&source=univ&tbm=shop&sa=X&ei=Kv_2UMatJoOc9QSDr4CoAg&ved=0CGQQsxg&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&bvm=bv.41018144,d.eWU&fp=a656d84bcd78ba72&biw=1360&bih=643
volume up not down is not normal there is a problem with the variable resistor (volume nob) every thing else is normal thats dolby certain sounds make them louder where as other sounds make them quieter it helps make you feel more emersed in the audio
if you have an EQ hooked up it will not work correctly with dolby digital playback and will dammage the reciever.
sorry, just got here , but I have the same unit and have had it for 5+ years and it still works great ! but if you want any device to last unplug it when you are not going to use it for a while.
Sounds like the on board computer (micro-processor) is waiting for a process to happen and when it does not happen then the unit times out and shuts off. Could be a mechanical or electrical process. Good luck.
Perhaps the unit isn't switched to 5.1
Maybe the movie wasn't recorded in 5.1 or if it was perhaps the recording was faulty. Try a known good recording to check the system.
Check your outputs and inputs plus your speaker cables.
Check the fuse if there's a seperate one for left and right, which there should be.
Try swapping the front speakers to the rear and the rear to the front and see if the fault is still with the rear sound.
silly Question John?? Have you or anybody changed modes on the reciver??? Not so silly as i've seem even a power do that. if not in the system then try unplugging for 24 hours and starting over again . let us know as maybe we can come up with more as we get more info. Good Luck
