Have you checked with another keyboard? at the moment there's no telling if the problem is with the keyboard or with the computer. If the problem is solved with another keyboard, and a driver update does you no good, I don't think it's worth your time and money. keyboards come cheap these days. Good luck

coming to think of it, if you feel like it you could open the thing up. it might be solved with some cleaning. Its easy to get crumbs and all kinds of dirt from the gaps between the keyboards into the guts of the thing.

When pressing number on laptop its showing characters

From your description I must assume that if all other keyboard functions and keys work properly then the keyboard is faulty. For the number keys to print the upper case characters shown on those keys requires a shift key to be depressed or stuck. If all other keys work properly, replace the keyboard. Otherwise look for a stuck shift key. I have found keyboards for sale on Ebay.

WHEN YOU PRESS THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON YOU HAVE THE CHOICE OF UPPER AND LOWER CASE LETTERING BUT THERE IS ALSO AN ARROW BUTTON WHICH IS TURNED OFF AND I AM NOT ABLE TO TURN IT OFF IT SEEMS TO HAVE REVERSED MY...

Hi,

That UP arrow refers to an UPPER CASE letter. If ever you press the CAPS LOCK key, it should turn off, if it does not it means the CAPS LOCK key for some reason is stuck. Try restarting the computer and by then the CAPS LOCK should be disabled.

Status light on upper right illuminated - how to turn it off?

Hi,

Initially, have you checked/pressed on the "Scroll Lock" key (between Print Screen & Pause). To my knowledge, on most keyboards, the three common indicator lights are: Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Types in upper case only (without caps lock/shift key locked)

in most cases yes, BUT since the light for caps lock is not comming on you might have a bad P.O.T. on the keyboard layer.. Since im assuming we are talking about a laptop..

Keyboard stuck in upper case

Is the caps lock light illuminated? If so, you might have to hold shift and hit caps lock to turn off the caps lock. This is an option for old typists who came from manual typewriters that you might have turned on by mistake.
