When powered off, TV turns on and displays white screen, then shuts off
Having a weird problem... My LCD TV works fine when watching TV. When I power off, a strange thing happens. About an hour after I power off, the TV screen will turn on solid white. After a few minutes I'll see it flash, then it shuts off again. While this happens, the TV indicates it is still powered off. This will happen a few more times, but it's usually a random occurance.
I have the same problem but now if I turn on my ilo-26hd lcd tv it stays white and if I try changing the channel or press ANY button on the tv it goes into standby mode. Fixya is a free tech support site. There is mo shop. No replacement parts.
If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop. LCD TV Repair No Power Power Supply Common Symptoms Solutions How to...
Hi,
It only tells us that the inverter cable needs to be reseated or replaced. It's not an expensive repair so fortunately you can consult any local certified technician and have them work on this.
This type of failure could be in the LCD controller board or the power supply might not be providing enough voltage to the main board and LCD controller.
Let me know if you require further assistance locating the boards or part numbers.
I posted to your problem with a similar one. I was able to get my PS3 to work by:
1.) Powering down both the PS3 and ViewSonic LCD
2.) Unplugging the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
3.) Waiting at least 10 or more seconds
4.) Plugging in the power cables to both PS3 and LCD
5.) Turning on the ViewSonic LCD
6.) Turning on the PS3 and holding down the power button until the beep
After this sequence I heard the bootup audio and the menu appeared on the screen- which detected the HDMI connection to my LCD.
Very odd.. I've had my PS3 in the same place for months and just today this happened.
I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
I decided to read this and I am not exactly 100 sure what the proplem is. I did want to offer a suggestion though. If you are having problems with both the screen and an external monitor, the problem may be with the graphics hardware. If you have a card, it may need to be replaced. If not, i'm very sorry. The motherboard may need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
