Brush is not rotating

Hi Barbara, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33's brush bar will only rotate when the vacuum cleaner is turned on and reclined into the normal vacuuming position, and the brush control is set to 'Carpets':

If the vacuum cleaner is standing upright, or set to 'hard floors', the brush bar will not rotate.

If you're confident the brush control is set correctly, but the brush bar won't rotate when the machine is turned on and reclined, please contact our experts directly so we can talk you through some further troubleshooting checks. If a repair is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

The Hoover switches on and the brush rotates but the actual Hoover doesn't come on?

Hi, is there suction when you open the top of the wand handle?

If no, have you emptied the container. next check the tubes that are removable, you may find there is a blockage of hair and bits, have you removed filter and given it a goos wash.

Cleaner not picking up

Hi Barbara, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear the brush bar in your machine isn't rotating. Please make sure that the brush control on the cleaner head is set to 'Carpets' rather than 'Hard floors', as the brush bar will not rotate when the machine is set to the Hard floors position.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure it's reclined into the normal vacuuming position before testing it. You might find our online Support guide useful when troubleshooting:

All belts are good but brush will not turn

Hi Nabil, it's Jack at Dyson.

If you have a DC14 and the brush bar isn't rotating, it's worth checking to make sure the brush control on the cleaner head is set to 'Carpets', and not 'Hard floors'.

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc14/dc14-all-floors/my-machine-is-not-working/i-can-see-something-wrong-visual/i-can-see-something-wrong-visual/my-brushbar-is-not-rotating2/does-the-brushbar-turn-with-the-power-on

Tip: The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so make sure you recline it down into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

If you're confident the brush control is set correctly, but the brush bar still won't rotate when the vacuum is reclined, please get in touch directly so we can help further. You can reach our experts by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

My brush is not rotating

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC33's brush bar is not rotating. This is likely to be because the brush control on the cleaner head has accidentally set to 'Hard floors'. In this mode, the brush bar will not rotate. Please recline your machine into the vacuuming position, turn it on, and make sure the brush control is set to 'Carpets'.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, as using and replacing the wand will not have any effect on the function of the brush bar. It's also important to note that the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright.

If you would like further assistance after you've checked the brush control is correctly positioned, please get in touch with us directly. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

The brush bar isn't going round ?

your problem seems to be the belt has snapped. Underneath the the hover there is a rubber belt that connects around the brush bar and around the motor, this belt will be broken. They can purchased from any hoover shop for a couple of pounds.

It.s anew vacuum cleaner Dyson DC24-ball one, bought only a few months ago..but the brush rallied normally only for a few days. We washed the 2 filters but the brush never started to roll. What should do?

Hi there, its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though you need to re-set the brush bar. It can stop rotating if it becomes obstructed. You need to simply locate the red re-set switch on the side of the cleaner head and push this button right in as far as you can. When you switch the machine back on and lower it into the vacuuming position, it should start to rotate.

I hope that this information is useful to you, if you need any further assistance, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298, between the hours of 7am - 10pm, 7 days a week.

Kind regards
Darran

Revolving brush stopped after I got a sock snagged in it.

If the Dyson model has a brush bar control roller at the left hand side of the top hood then it won't be able to be repaired unless its by a Dyson call out or someone who repairs Dyson models with brush control protection.
If the model doesn't have a brush control dial then you will have to change the drive belt:
Easy to do if you flip the machine over with the beater bar looking upwards. Locate the three/two screw heads and undo with a coin. When the roller section is revealed by taking off the floor head you should replace the belt with a new one and be careful putting the beater bar in the right way on both ends. The belt will be tight brand new so expect some tension in it.
If this works for you please rate Fixya! Thanks.

Dyson 18 slim the rotating brush bar will not rotate. Was working fine until I got the edge of a tablecloth caught in the brush, pulled it out ok but now the brush will not rotate fast, but will rotate by...

If the DC18 has a proteted belt then it will have to be replaced by a Dyson engineer or repairer. If the cleaner has a removable sole plate where the beater bar is then remove it and replace the belt - sounds like the belt has snapped and needs to be replaced. if your DC18 is still relatively new it should still be under guarantee.
