Check to make sure the ribbon is between the two metal "fingers" and the metal cardholder. Also make sure the printwheel is latched forward by pushing forward on the black lever to the right of the printhammer. Turn the knob on the left side of the ribbon, in the direction of the arrow. It should turn fairly easy, if not, or turning it doesn't advance the ribbon, you may have a defective ribbon. If this doesn't cure the problem, you will need professional repair.

My typewritter wont impress even on hardest impression setting. I think the Ribbon might not be turning eventhough it looks like it is.

If it sounds like it is hitting the paper puy in a multi part form if the copy is OK then you have a ribbon problem, put in a new ribbon.
If there is no print on copy be sure the print wheel is properly latched in place.

My IBM Wheelwriter 3 is not working. The machine wont print anything after I replaced the ribbon. The printwheel is currently working but, I think the part that presses down on the paper is broken?

The plastic print solenoid cap is most likely broken. We sell them with shipping and instructions for 20.00.

Try typing on a mulipart form. If it types on the copies and not the orinonal the ribbon is the problem. If it dosen't type on the copies then the plastic cap on the print solenoid is broken.

We sell the cap with installation instructions for 20.00 includes shipping.

Put in a mulit part form, if it prints on the copies the ribbon isn't lifting, if it dosen't the plastic cap on the print solenoid needs replaced.

Characters do not print.

The print solenoid plunger has a plastic cap on the end of the plunger it is probably broken. They are available but you need a bit of mechanical ability to install.

Type is faded and old looking even with new ribbon.

Put in a multi part form, if the carbons print well then try a fresh ribbon,. not one that has been sitting around for a long time. If it is bad check for debris around the print hammer, If its clean either the print solenoid is gummy or the solenoid cap is broken.

Typewriter - Swintech 2640

Sounds like you need a new ribbon or you are using non-Swintec compatible ribbons that are not properly aligned to your ribbon feed. Try using Swintec brand ribbons and see if this still occurs. Worst case scenario, you need to have your ribbon feed adjusted at your local dealer.
