CD Burner Drive Will Only Open During Startup

My gateway machine has a cd-rw burner drive that the door will only open (when hitting the open switch) during the start-up phase of XP. I have to restart the machine every time I want to put a disc into or remove the disc from the machine. The burner works very well, just having this problem of opening the door. Any suggestions?

GuruHave you contacted gateway?? As In these cases I have found that most of the time that these things happen this way is corrupt drivers or firmware on the disc drive processor its self. Find the most recent driver and unistall the driver and reinstall to see what happens. Good luck
