The person who gave me Linksys WRVS4400N router decided to put a name and password on it that I cannot remove. I was wondering if there is any way to wipe it and restart it because the reset button on the back didn't work.

When resetting a linksys router, you must hold in the reset button for 30sec before it resets to it's factory settings. Its is even recommened to hold it in for 40 sec to be shore. The factory default username and password is admin and on some older systems the there is only a password which is admin.

How to reset my wrvs4400n wireless router

You'll need to hold the reset button in for 15 seconds or so. It should then reset. You should be able to connect it to your PC or laptop with a cable (wireless won't work) and when you open an internet browser, you should be taken to the configuration screen.

How can i find out my pssword.

The default username and password for Linksys routers are:
Username: admin Password: password
or
Username: admin Password: admin
or
Username: <no username> Password: password
If all of this fail you'll need to reset your linksys router so that it will also reset the password to the default. To reset you linksys router you can check it out on this website: http://technicallyeasy.net/2008/01/how-to-reset-linksys-wrt54g-wireless/
Note: Reseting your router means it's going to reload the factory default settings and all of the settings that you made on your router will be deleted permanently.

My son gave me an older computer and wireless Linksys-G model WRT54GS router. I bought my wife a ipod for christmas and in the setup of the ipod it is asking for a password for the router. My son does not...

Reset the router to default....the default username and password is usually on the bottom of the router..then open a web page on your pc and connect the router with a network cable..type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Use the generic name and password to logon....once logged in, configure username and password and wifi...once setup..save and exit..disconnect and connect router to internet modem...log onto pc and look for your wifi neteork name..cheers

When i set up the router i gave a password but

If you want to change the password to access the router you can open your browser and put in the address 192.168.1.1 (unless you changed it) and press enter. You should be prompted for a user name and password. Leave the user name section blank and put in the password for the router. Once you have logged into the router successfully, you will see the Administration tab. Click on it and you will be able to change the router password. Save the changed and close the browser window when you are finished.
If you need to change the Wireless Internet password, you can click on the Wireless tab, go to Wireless security and change the passphrase there too.
I hope this helped. Thanks for using FixYa.com!!

How do you find or reset your user name and password?

There's a small button on the back of the system. Use a pin/paperclip or something small to press the button. The length in time to hold the button down is different for every manufacturer, but about 10 seconds should do the trick.

I've lost the password for a WRVS4400N, is there a way to get on

On the back of the gateway is a button that you can press to reset the settings to the factory defaults. It is inside a pen hole to prevent it from being pushed during normal operations. Push and hold for 10 seconds. Don't forget to change the settings to prevent it from being accessed from malicious users local and remote.
