Question about HP L1506 15" LCD Monitor
My external hard drive has decided to go slow all of a sudden.
I've tried formatting it and it's still slow although empty.
It has a 500gb capacity. When it was working it used to take 2-3mins to transfer a 700mb file now it takes 1.5hours.
Ihave tried disconnecting it and reconnecting. When I do this my PCtells me to plug it into a USB2.0 port and gives me a display of them. But I've tried them all and I still get the same result.
I havelooked in my device manager to check I have USB2.0 ports and under theVIA SUBS it says one is enhanced. So I assume they are working asUSB2.0 ports.
I have also tried it in my sons PC which I'm sure has USB2.0 ports and still the same problem when connecting.
Copyingand pasting a 700 mb file on the external hard drive takes ages. Butnot on my PC (only takes mins). On external takes 1.5 hours.
has anyone got any ideas that will help me. Because I'm not sure whether it's the external hard drive or my USB ports.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
The first thing to do is check the hard disk for fragmentation
Ultimate Defrag is a freeware defrag program.
It will defrag the hard drive and speed things up.
