i have had the same problem with the Gateway LCD Monitor and have found a solution, First go to your control panel Secong there will be a program appearance and theme there you will find something that says screen resolution click it and adjust the color scheme to 1152 by 864 pxels.
Make sure all connections are tight at all plugs and monitor at the motherboard if you have integrated graphics. If possible, try another monitor. You could also try re-loading the drivers, but it sounds more like a hardware issue.
Well...it's a Dell and even when it's well...it's still a Dell. Have you tried the monitor on different system to eliminate the tower being the problem? Some have updated and/or rolled back drivers to help cure this problem, which seems to be a common issue with this LCD. Personally i think the contrast ratio is inadequate. Good luck with your Delllll...
if you have access to another monitor use if to verify the monitor is the problem and not the video card of the computer.
does the monitor allow you to adjust color and tint(hue) because the tint or hue control changes the overall color from green to purple. or the color control circuit has failed leaving you stuc with a purple screen.
your problem is in blue color cathode circuit.
as you say that it becomes ok tha5t means
1 cable wire is loose from computer to monitor.
2 crt base loose.
3 loose contact in blue video ckt.
4 signal processor cable to crt board connector loose.(blue wire)
