Question about Maytag MBF2256H Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
The defrost drain opening or drain hose is plugged up with ice or crud. If the drip pan is bone dry, it's a sure sign that the drain opening or drain hose is clogged. Trace the drain hose back to see where it pick up the condensate in the refrigerator cabinet. Remove whatever pieces you need to to clean that sucker out. Door gaskets are torn or not making good contact with the cabinet. No? Well then where's all that water coming from, Einstein? It can only come from the humidity in the outside air--your fridge can't make water, dontcha know

Have you shut off the water from the ice maker to see if it stops?? if it does then its a leak in the hoses or valves. Has the fridge been moved latly?? Sometimes when peeps move a fridge the drain hose comes out of the drippan to catch the defrost water. And Yes the fridge does make water from it self defrosting . All self defrosting fridges do!! Good Luck

I had an issue with water occasionally appearing on the floor. It was very randon. I added a piece of tubing to extend the drain tube to the evaporator pan. I have not had the problem since.

I had a problem with condesation forming from the humidity in the air and it was constantly filling the drip pan and overflowing. The service person put an add on evaporator coil above the drip pan to stop the build up of excess water. It solved the problem.

The pan that the defrost drain hose drains into on our refrigerator had a small 1/8" hole in the front bottom corner of the pan and when the defrost cycle activated the water just ran into the pan and out the hole and onto the floor.
